Emily, I echo the sentiments of the posters above, you are truly amazing and I admire your determination when there has been so many sad events in your life.
I also stumbled upon mystery shopping after reading your posts and have my first assignment at a local Bank in a week's time - thanks for the info Welshy x
Thank you Welsh-Dragon. I hope your mystery shopping goes well, the first is always the hardest but they do get better, I hope it leads to many more jobs for you.
Best wishes

We keep saying we should pay more off it but its a scary thing to do when you are selfemployed.
We need to keep money in the bank in case of emergencies or ill health but at the same time, we could clear the entire debt in one go if we weren't so cautious.
Its a puzzle as to what to do!
Hi Ragtime
If you paid off the debt then you would have free space on your card so in an emergency you could put a lot of spending on there again but you wouldn't be paying interest on it in the meantime. Would that be worth thinking about??
Emily - you are an inspiration to all of us - keep up the good work and PLEASE keep telling us all about it!!

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the lovely weather we are having at the moment!!
I have worked out that if I can get £10 a day throughout July then I will end up with £310 (I'm so good at maths!) and that will be more than enough to clear my Barclaycard before the end of the month and that includes any interest that is put on it before then.
Therefore I am setting myself a July challenge of trying to get £10 a day from something to enable me to pay £10 off my Barclaycard every day. Now this could be from Ebaying, selling stuff in the paper, Amazon, mystery shopping or any other way I can get some quick cash for the day (I don't really want to include AQA as I don't get paid that until next month so it wouldn't count).
I think my first lot will be from Ebay, I have got quite a bit of stuff I can put on (I am in the process of decluttering!!). I have also got a DVD player that I am planning on putting in the paper which should fetch £30 or so.
My £10 a day challenge starts tomorrow so if anyone has got any ideas as to how to get my £10 for any particular day then please share them with me.

Hi Emily
I just want to say thanks. From reading your posts I put some books for sale on Amazon and 1 of them has sold. It'll only bring me about £2.50 after postage and stuff but it's £2.50 that I wouldn't have had. If I'd sold (or tried to sell it) on ebay I'd have got about 99p, so thanks for sharing your money making ideas with us. I forgot, I also did another mystery shop today - again I got the idea from reading your posts, so another, even bigger thanks.Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:Virgin CC £9793.710 -
Well my £10 a day challenge for July has started off well. I received a £2.00 cheque through the post today, must have been a runner-up in some competition. So that left me with £8.00 to get today. I have listed some stuff on Ebay this evening and will do the same tomorrow.
I have also won a collectible Narnia game set which I expect I can sell on Ebay, I haven't received it yet though. I paid £10 off my Barclaycard this morning and will do the same tomorrow.
I will have the pleasure in calling Barclaycard and telling them what to do with their card in no time!! :T
I'm now settling down to an evening of AQA and competitions - what a sad life I lead!!

Hi everyone
My £10 a day challenge is still going well - only 23 days to go and my Barclaycard will be clear and cancelled!!
I wonder if anyone out there can help me please. I have finally decided to bite the bullet and reclaim my bank charges. I have totted them all up and they come to a lovely £1,756.00. This doesn't include any interest and is over a period of about a year when I was really at rock bottom and all my direct debits were being rejected!! I have been to that consumer action group website but I find it all very confusing :wall: and don't really know where to begin.
I've got a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to come along and answer them for me. They are:- I haven't added any overdraft interest to my charges, is that right?
- I found out all my charges from internet banking, do I still need to obtain any old paper statements?
- The consumer action group site mentions something about sending a schedule of charges but I couldn't find any template or anything on the website for that. Would it basically be what the charges were, what they were for and when they were taken?
- I haven't calculated any interest for my charges. How do you do this and do I claim for the interest straight away or wait? (some place I have read you wait and others have said claim straight away!
I think that is about it for now. It just really confuses me to be honest and I don't want to mess it up. I know I could start another thread on reclaiming bank charges but I though I would just ask the people who have been reading my story and sending me such kind messages for help.
Thank you for any help anyone can give - have a lovely sunny day everyone!!
