Well done. Emily can i just ask you a question about your CF, do you often go on IV's? (my girlfriend has CF too and poor girl she is on IV's at the moment) and i find it really hard to cheer her up what advice can you give me and what cheers you up when you are on IV's?

I am so sorry to hear that, how old is your girlfriend?

I go on IV's as and when I need it really, I've averaged out at 1 lot a year for the past 4 years which is quite good really, I've only had 5 lots in my life which is excellent for someone with CF who is 25 years old. The amount is ever increasing though as I get older and my lungs get worse.

The problem with IV's and having this illness is that no matter how hard my friends and family try to help me and cheer me up, they just don't know what it is like and I think in a way that it is harder for them in that respect than it is for me. I know my boyfriend often doesn't know what to do for the best.

Just be there for your girlfriend if she needs to talk or if she needs anything (there are certain things you can't do with an IV line in, like wash your own hair in case your arm gets wet!). What I really appreciate from my boyfriend is that he isn't all over protective with me, he treats me like he would anyone else and I do appreciate that normality.

CF is not a nice illness to have by any means but I wouldn't be half the person I was without it and I am sure that your girlfriend is the same.

Please give her my best wishes and I hope the IV's keep her feeling on tip top form for a long time.

If you need to know anything else about the illness then just PM me or post on here, I don't mind.

    Take care

My girlfriend is 18 she has to go on IV's more times than others she's been on them i think 3 or 4 times this year. I was told by one of my girlfriends family friend was that she has got a lot happier in herself and also feeling better.

She tells me she has about another 2 weeks to go before she is off them which is ok as we are going up to Scotland for a few days in late July which we are both really looking forward to.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply

have just read what you wrote about bingo and thought I'd let you know ( if you don't already) that you can get paid through quidco to join some bingo sites, so this way you can play bingo, get paid for it and then also maybe win!

    Good morning

It's been another turbulent week that hasn't finished yet!! My grandma got taken into hospital on Tuesday evening. Fortunately she is now out and doing ok. I've also got to go for a check-up on Monday with my consultant. My family really does keep the NHS going!!

As you can see from my signature, I've cleared £100 from my Barclaycard :T - this was the £90 I won at bingo and the minimum payment I need to make for next month which is £10. I will get Ebaying over the weekend to try to get enough to clear the rest.

I have received the BMW backpack that I won and it is really nice and good quality - should bag me some money on Ebay!!

My boyfriend is away again this weekend on a training course (he works with Network Rail and has to go on the tracks, hence the weekend thing) so it's another moneysaving weekend for me which I like to be honest!! I've got another one next weekend too as he's away on a stag weekend.

No more prize wins as yet but I am ever hopeful that there is a big win just round the corner that will wipe out all of my debts :rotfl:

Apart from that nothing else going on. I can't wait to pay some more off that card!!

Thank you, I'm glad that I am inspiring other people too. Well done on clearing that debt, it's such a good feeling isn't it? I find it a lot easier to kill of one debt at a time, it makes it a bit better than looking at everything as one big debt!!

Good luck with clearing your next debt!! :D

    Hi Emily,
I have just found your thread and read it through to the end, what an inspiration you are!

I don't have massive debts, just a £2000 visa which is slowly going down ( it was £3,500).

We keep saying we should pay more off it but its a scary thing to do when you are selfemployed.

We need to keep money in the bank in case of emergencies or ill health but at the same time, we could clear the entire debt in one go if we weren't so cautious.

Its a puzzle as to what to do!

Anyway, just wanted to say, you have my utmost admiration for what you have gone through and for what you have already achieved.

You are a star Emily :)

Emily, I echo the sentiments of the posters above, you are truly amazing and I admire your determination when there has been so many sad events in your life.

I also stumbled upon mystery shopping after reading your posts and have my first assignment at a local Bank in a week's time - thanks for the info Welshy x
