Being a bored student, I just sent a quick email to apple using the addresses supplied here;
Dear Apple Store,
I have recently recieved an email saying that my orders for 2 Olympus E-1 cameras with lenses have been cancelled. (Order numbers W#### and W#####).
Under your terms and conditions, which you supposedly based your cancellations upon, point 2.6 states that
2.6 Whilst we will make every effort to supply you with the Products listed on the Order Confirmation, there may be occasions where we are unable to supply these Products because, for example, such Products are no longer being manufactured or we are unable to source relevant components
As you are obviously a very busy company, I have gone to the trouble of sourcing the product for you. As these products are for sale to the general public, I do believe by your own terms and conditions that you are therefore now able to source the product.
The camera can be found for sale at:
http://www.fotosense.co.uk/shop_details.asp?productID=902
http://www.techstore.co.uk/browse.php?a=p&prodLineID=41120
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage?OLY-E1KIT&P36=38JHE9
Please also note that I am able to produce further links to other retailers of this camera.
As the order was placed on the 29th December 2005, I look forward to receiving my cameras by 28th January 2006 (30 days from when order was confirmed by yourselves), as stated in one or more of the following; Distance Selling Regulations (DSR) 2000, Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Directive 97/7/EC, and Electronic Commerce Directive 2000.
If you require any further information, such as proof of student status then I would be delighted to help.
Many thanks for your co-operation,

I wonder if they will reply?0 -
They've cancelled most people's orders already so the last paragraph wouldn't hold up.
However finding other suppliers is the right thing to do.comments offered by myself do not constitute (nor do they replace) professional legal advice.0 -

Legally I find good grounds for us to get the camera.
Also I have already been offered 15% off student special deals on cameras... do not accept anything less than that.

*edit* oh I've written to Watchdog too. Good luck with your campaign!
But as you are so convinced of your case, surely you wouldn't want to expect anything less than said camera, certainly not a miserly 15%.
Have you taken advise from a specialist in this field? I await with interest the outcome of your Small Claims Courts case.0 -

Be honest. Do you seriously feel wronged? Or do you just want a bit of a campaign because you didn't put one over Apple, and get a blatantly mispriced camera?
I doubt whether that article has got Apple squirming in the least. For that to happen, they would need to be taken to court, and directed to supply all the cameras ordered at the cheap price.0 -

yes i felt wronged ....but then i have principals...apple dont .
and i still cant get my head around why people come onto this site if it isnt to look for bargains. A misprice is only a misprice if the person quoting it says so.
a bargain is a bargain.. you must be a real hoot going to the january sales .... nope sorry dont put that in your basket its probably just a misprice..... ...0 -

I am a law student and while my own knowledge may be limited I have access to the largest library in Ireland (Trinity College) and having spent 2 hours researching the going looks good!
And I've also got 400 odd law colleagues who may be just that bit smarter than myself
I didn't accept their offer (but I was pointing out that some people may wish to do so).
I haven't taken them to court yet but the senior supervisor has asked me to forward my legal argument to her so their legal department can analyse it. (of course I'll just give my outline and save the best bits for the courtroom)
