Remember that the UK is more than England. This has to be pointed out to most Americans, too! :p

England, Wales, Scotland and not including Northern Ireland constitutes the United Kingdom, I know I know, mea culpa! On an equally pedantic note UK should be written as U.K. the full stops indicating an abbreviation :p .

Just off the phone with a "senior supervisor" after talking about the legal ramifications of Apple renegaging on its contract. She asked me to outline my legal case to her in an email to be forwarded to their legal department... I'll just give her a taster of what can be expected in the courtroom!

kinster you never did answer my earlier question ..you didnt order did you and and me thinks that you wish you had ......

afraid to say that you are very wrong ..i have emailed more than a few news organisations simply because apple did a wrong ...what may have started out as a genuine mistake by them was quickly turned into something far worse ..and on that score i believe that they should be made to answer ...

this morning my order staus is also now saying cancelled....as yet i still await the secongd email that apple promised ......umm once again cart ..horse and stable door come to mind

my student friend ordered me one, but we would never push for it if I never received it. Same happened when I ordered something from play.com which was a pricing error, but they cancelled it after taking my money out. I didn't bother and just let it go.

How much of what you submit could be relevant to us in the UK do you think? Do the terms & conditions for the .ie apple store look the same as the ones for us over here?

    Cheers :xmassmile

I believe it is the same (the trouble clause is 2.6 right?) and they tried to amend the T&C afterwards (for shame!)

Although legal arguments could be different in the U.K. as from here. You have the Misrepresentation Act of (1967?) whereas we just rely on Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1978.

I am a law student and while my own knowledge may be limited I have access to the largest library in Ireland (Trinity College) and having spent 2 hours researching the going looks good!

And I've also got 400 odd law colleagues who may be just that bit smarter than myself ;)

I didn't accept their offer (but I was pointing out that some people may wish to do so).

I haven't taken them to court yet but the senior supervisor has asked me to forward my legal argument to her so their legal department can analyse it. (of course I'll just give my outline and save the best bits for the courtroom :) )

What is this based on? ;)

yes i felt wronged ....but then i have principals...apple dont .

and i still cant get my head around why people come onto this site if it isnt to look for bargains. A misprice is only a misprice if the person quoting it says so.

a bargain is a bargain.. you must be a real hoot going to the january sales .... nope sorry dont put that in your basket its probably just a misprice..... ...

I love a bargain, and would have been delighted with this one had I got it. However, this was an obvious misprice, and if you suggest otherwise you are telling porkies.

I dont know how your principals work, when you are trying to take advantage of someone elses mistake!!!

Maybe they are a big organisation, but surely the principal remains the same.

    Thanks :)

I also spoke to someone who said I would receive an email within 2 days telling me when I could expect to receive my camera. That was yesterday, today the status is 'cancelled'.

I do think I'm losing out here (none of this moral high-ground stuff) I'm sure I have an entitlement to the camera I ordered (and they confirmed).

I thought it was a very good deal & ordered it in good faith. You're slandering me, gimme a sec I'll get Thirdfox onto you ;)

Be honest. Do you seriously feel wronged? Or do you just want a bit of a campaign because you didn't put one over Apple, and get a blatantly mispriced camera?

I for one do seriously feel wronged. If I had ordered something in person from say a furniture shop.... went to pick it up and they said "well actually we're not gonna give you anything.... and we won't give you your money back for three days" then I would be also be annoyed, and rightly so.
    Do you work for apple?

like when you make a mistake you say ..sorry ..puts you hands ,,up everyone accepts that and moves on....

now lets see ..did apple make a mistake or did they run out of stock ....did they stick to the terms and conditions..did they change the terms and conditions....did they even want to talk to anyone.... there is no email support at present. And so many different stories where told by cs that it became farcical ..who was telling the porkies ...

now they didnt want to talk to journalists .....i find that one somewhat alarming ....have they something to hide...

for my part i like a bargain . .... but above everyhting else i like truth. I think most of us now realise that this issue is more than bargain hunting its about the big boys not being allowed to get away with blatant wrong doing...
thats my stance thats where i am coming from ...accept it at face value or not.
