The invoice is irrelevant - what did it say on the original website entry?

The invoice is totally relevant! In the terms it says the price you will be charged is the price on the invoice.

C'mon apple I've been good honest.

Just spoke to Apple and been given the runaround by CS rep.

I then proceeded to tell her that dozens of people have contacted them and been given differing stories and that changing terms and conditions after confirming the purchase is probably illegal and that if dispatch of my order is not confirmed close of business today that I intend to inform Trading Standards, Whatchdog etc , and that as Olympus have confirmed availability that I expect them to honour the contract .

I also informed her that all communications with Apple concerning this offer are being correlated online and that considering the previous Kodac case it is more than possible Apple are heading for court proceedings and lots of bad publicity.

I am certain that she called a senior to listen in and heated conversations were going on in the background. So arm yourselves with the full facts and keep the pressure on.

I just phoned Olmypus, 0080067108300, and they confirmed that the E1 has been replaced. Ah well, I enjoyed the ride!
  • Yes - thats the number I called and got told that it was discontinued.

One of my 'rents gave Apple a ring on my behalf (I am in bed with lurgy). Basically they were told what everyone else has been told apart from one thing: the cameras they had in stock have been sold at the price on the web site to the people that got orders in early enough (first come first served ect). Ours was evidently due to be shipped on the 9th but stock ran out way before they got down to us...

Hehe, weird! But it's been a fun ride none-the-less.

Guess it's back to shooting film and trying to cobble together enough money for a D-Slr. Again :)

Even if the camera was worth £600 and was marked down to £100, it isn't an unreasonable offer. Remember it was a relatively old camera with many better DSLRs available for cheaper (I just bought a 350D for £350). It may have been on offer and, most importantly, was being offered to students or those in education only. Now I know microsoft have been known to reduce the price of their products by such margins when offering to those in education.

When you combine the three of the above, the price it was being offered at wasn't improbable. But anyway, that isn't the reason why our orders aren't being fulfilled.

And I don't buy the apple line for one second, they are claiming that they have NONE in stock. Now if some of us managed to get cameras and some of us didn't, then that would be believeable, but according to them they have NONE in stock.

    BULLSH*T

Now the reason for the delay in getting back to us is obvious, they were busy contacting their legal department trying to find a way to prevent themselves from getting raped. Must have been difficult for them to find a get out, and this is the best they can come up with.

No reason to roll over and play dead, we should make as much noise about this as possible. It happened with the Kodak case, and and quite possible could happen here. We need to create template letters of complaint, to send to watchdog and advertising standards, and any other relevant body. One legal eagle composes the letters, and we all send them in.

    Any volunteers?

    :)

that just shows how shoddy apples ability to organise and keep track of orders and sales actually is.

I for one wouldnt be too bothered if they now offered to substitiute the E1 for the e300 that they still are selling .....naturally for the same price as we paid for the E1 , well after all the e300 is a lesser camera is it not.

now if im prepared to move on this deal surely a little movement from apple is the order of the day. good customer relations etc etc etc

Aren't they supposed to offer something else after they make every effort to fulfil your order as per terms and conditions. Of course this would have to include a big discount like on the order confirmation

    Call the press.
