Ok, I'm thinking about challenges to take part in come 2009.

I know its not good to put things off but I want to get Christmas out of the way and such like first. Get "The Big Clearout" finished and things like that all sorted first.

So, The list of challenges I'd like to take part in include

    1. Sealed pot challenge - I've done this for a couple of months this year and am looking to bank my "winnings" in the next week or so.
    2. Make £10 a day. I did this one one month and thanks to some overtime I did quite well. I want to give it another go though with renewed enthusiasm, lets see if I can't get that 3months salary saved up
    3. No Spend Day challenge. I'm usually not bad at this for most of the year. Last month was a pest though and the lead up to Christmas is no better

I'm sure others will take my fancy as I go but they are going to be my main three.

Right, back to work with me!

    Mornin' KT

Good idea with the challenges, gives you some fun and focus. I've been doing the £10 a day one for a while, this month not so well, but previous months I've made the target. It'll help with finances one way or another.

Think I'll join you on the sealed pot challenge, I can wave to you on that thread too!

I've not been good at keeping this up to date. I have an excuse for the last couple of days though. I'm not well...

    Here is my update

Friday - I had a date with OH. He paid for everything (Very MSE of me *giggles*) We chatted a lot. It was nice and very much needed.

Saturday - I was at a dinner dance for the 10th anniversay of the Deaf Actions Choir. I am not in this or involved with it but as a friend of the choir I was invited. Lovely christmas dinner, with christmas music... in November!!

Sunday - I had dinner at my friends house (again MSE me!) That was when my cough started...

Monday - woke up feeling less than perfect. Went to work and was ok. I had my Samaritans shift that night. It was good, even though I was definately feeling ill by this point.

Tuesday - Work with an endless supply of tissues. Orchestra rehearsal at night. I took it easy knowing that the concert is tonight.

and that leaves me here, sitting on my sofa under a blanket, willing myself to be well enough for the concert tonight.

    I hope everyone is well.

    Quick update, more later...

I made it to the concert. It went ok considering we all know the orchestra is rather rubbish.

I have a lot I want to get off my chest but after another busy weekend I'll leave it and do a big update later.

    sorry for this garbled post.

Well, here is the next installment...

I have not been doing as well as I hoped. I have just not been prepared fior Christmas this year. Did everyone else get the memo that it's on 25th December this year? I appear to not have been told...

As such much of my Christmas will be going on my credit card.

That makes me rather sad. But also very determined that next year will be the year everything changes for me.

I have possibly been offered a Christmas tree and some decorations that were extras from the girl in my car share. I don't think she has any idea how grateful I am at the possible offer. (She knows I live alone and am budgeted to my last penny)

I have had a bit of another set back, a council tax bill... I have to prove (with more proof than you'd imagine) that for the first 3 or so months of owning my flat it was unfurnished. What this means is tonight I set about the big paperwork part of the clearout...

I've been dreading this but am now kind of looking forward to it. Shredding is fun!! I am determined that they won't win on this one. For the record I filled out the exemption at the time but they lost my form.

So that is me today. Feeling down in the dumps after my shift last night but using my pick axe to drag myself back out of it again.

KT I didn't get the memo either, I'll have to put a couple of bits on my card too. But look at it this way, this year you're aware of what you're doing and it will be controlled. After Christmas you will know exactly how much you spent and will put a plan together to pay it back.

And as you say, next year you will have budgeted for it properly. So don't beat yourself up over it, not a great deal of harm done!
