KT, just wanted to say how great it is that your list has inspired so many people and that you are trully inspirational.

Regarding your comment about doing things to help others as it makes you feel warm and fuzzy, that is not a bad thing at all, in fact its great that you own up to it. I have been learning about that on my counselling course and learnt that in fact, often when we do things for others its because one way or another it does something for us. Whats great is its a win win situation, you feel great and your doing something great for others.

I like coming on here as it keeps motivating me to work on my list!

thank you so much. You've got me all emotional now. (seriously)

I'm worried I'm becoming addicted to being on here. But it motivates me too. So many things motivate me to want to better myself. This site, my great boyfriend, how hard my parents have worked all my life, that feeling when I have done something really worthwhile. It is all motivating.

I never started the diary to post my list but that seems to be where it is leaning towards. This diary is taking on a life of its own.

    Hello again everyone!

time for another update I think. This weekend was not very DFW. I was out with work mates on Saturday. One of whom paid for a taxi back to mine on the condition that he could crash on my couch.

I'm thinking a lot about everything just now but I need to get it all out of my head and into action.

I have Samaritans volunteering again tonight which has been good for taking me out of my own head for a little while.

My friends on "what small DFW things" thread have all been helping me out today as well because I am considering making the leap into my dream career in a different way to I previously thought. It would involve a temporary pay cut to be an apprentice for a while... The meeting about it isn't until Wednesday evening so I'm just going to have to mull it over till then. All thoughts and opinions read with interest...

    It is payday tomorrow!!

I have about £270 left on my credit card and more than that left of my interest free overdraft so I am considering paying it all off and just reducing my overdraft interest free each month. What do you think??

I better go and get back to work.

Or back to day dreaming about a different life...

I am determined to become more productive. What things can you do at the same time as maybe reading or something similar, tasks that you can leave to it. All I can come up with is washing clothes and dishwasher. DOes anyone have any other ideas of two things at once jobs?
    Hello KT,
If you have a cordless phone you can chat while doing all maner of jobs, such as ironing, tidying, sorting laundry etc. Could you borrow Origin of the Species on an audio book from the library and listen to it while you're cleaning or cooking (or doing daily clicks)? If you're studying and there is something you can watch to help you with your studies, you can also do that while ironing or sorting paperwork or doing something else that's fairly mindless. I noticed you're learning Spanish - you could watch Spanish DVDs (or listen to Spanish radio) and do other things at the same time.

    Hope this helps;)

Totally worth it for your dream career, as long as you make a plan/budget of how you're going to make ends meet during the apprenticeship, and are realistic about your chances of finding eymployment afterwards. If you don't take the leap you might regret it! I'm hoping to do something similar in the future (give up a well-paid job to study) so have been thinking about this a lot. Good luck with the meeting!

Snow White - Thanks for all your suggestions. I'll keep them in mind for the coming weeks.

You keep saying 'ironing' what is this strange thing you speak of?! (I don't think I even own an iron... I'll need to check)

As for the dream career - well, I'll keep you all posted I guess!

    Thanks!

  • Well I guess it's more MSE to not own an iron at all and just hang things up to dry v-e-r-y carefully so they don't crease. There was actually a whole thread on this a few weeks ago, would you believe. And yes, I read it all :o

I've just updated my signature and have realised something, for the first time in a long time I am living within my means, or these numbers wouldn't be going down like they have!

I'm rather proud of myself. :)
