Before I found Old Style I had that problem, it turned out I was using too much powder. Now that I use less the white marks have gone.

Can you use the three ingredient washing powder on wools and delicates?
Also can I make it with non-bio powder instead of bio?Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

where I live it's a hard water area too but I've found that using half the recommended amount is fine. I've been using tablets until now and rather than using two like the box says I've been using one with no problems.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

I use it with wools and delicates and it's fine. I make it with bio, so not quite sure what it would be like with non bio, but I think it would be ok. Hopefully someone who's made it with non bio will come along soon and let us know.

Just been re-reading this thread, and was wondering if anyone can advise on the skin kindness of soda crystals. DS has moderate eczema and at the mo I'm using soapnuts, but sometimes it's not getting really grotty stains out, however his skin does seem to be a lot better (maybe coincidence but who knows) so I don't want to try something that may start his skin off again. If I made the powder I guess I'd use non-bio and soda crystals mixed.0

I have excema and prefer soapnuts nowadays full time but for a couple of years i made my own laudry gloop using soda crystals and my skin was fine. (The ingredients for laundry gloop are plain soap and soda crystals).
I add soda crystals to the occasional wash with me soapnuts - just 1/4 -1/2 a cup and it seems fine. However I do use vinegar in my rinse which helps make sure no residue is left. I've also recently tried just a squirt of stardrops to boost my soap nuts and that's been fine too.
The only commercial powders are I can use are Surcare (only if I do a double rinse) and the boots own brand sensitive skin laundry liquid (which is worse than useless it seems to turn everything grey and yet at the same time clean nothing!). It's that bad i have to take my own sheets with me if I stay in a hotel or at a friends or I come out in hives.
Try it once and do a double rinse cycle if you are nervous.0
