I use half a tablet and a bit of soda crystals for a quick wash. Things that are really mucky get a whole tablet and soda crystals, and a 40 wash. I do like to spoil my washing!!!Toughest form of moutain climbing is climbing out of a rutI WILL be debt free!I WILL be happy!red pen member 40

Just going to try out a mix of
Tesco powder £1.69 [3kg]
Washing Soda .92 [1kg]
Directions say about 100g for a hard water area with above mixed going for 50g a wash
Total powder is 4000g [4kg] average 50g per wash = 80 loads
£2.61 / 80 = 0.04 [approx] a wash0 -
I've read a few posts about using soda crystals recently! Being new to the money saving game, I'm not sure what they can be used for, and how to use them.
Can I use them instead of washing powder/dishwasher tablets? Will they really replace all cleaning products? It seems to good to be true!0 -
They are EXTREMELY versatile and can be used in cleaning AND laundry. There's loads of info on the mmanufacturer's site at www.dri-pak.co.uk0

I know some have used soda crystals instead of detergent but I wouldn't personally. Soda crystals are a fantastic water-softener so using a tablespoon or two and halving the amount of laundry detergent you use should be a money-saver and you can use them in the dishwasher in the same way as well. They are also really useful at cutting grease so are good for using in lot of cleaning jobs around the house as well.0

Yep, and you use soda crystals combined with grated soap (and borax or borax substitute for stain-removal) to make the infamous "laundry gloop". Now, that's a money-saver if there ever was one! I made ten litres of gloop which cost me less than £2 to make if I remember correctly0

I use soda crystals for keeping the sink drains free flowing and for pre-soaking dishtowels before washing. Does anyone use laundry gloop who has sensitive skin and / or eczema? Was wondering how it might affect skin problems before I try making some. Thanx0
