Leaving my husband

Good luck!
I really can't say how proud I am that you have decided to do this - it takes a lot of guts. I left a controlling relationship, and even then it wasn't easy. By facing up to things you are a million times better than he will ever be.
I wish you all the luck in the world - although you sound a very capable woman!0 -
Hello Rolo,
If you're getting very anxious about it all, make lists. If you have bills etc in joint names, it might be worth noting the meter readings in the marital home before you leave and letting the gas/electricity company know that from tomorrow you will no longer be jointly responsible for any future bills, also phone company etc - just in case your husband tries to land you with paying for power, phone calls etc after you've moved.
You'll be in my thoughts tomorrow - go, girl! You are doing really well to have arranged everything. Hold it together till the job is done.
Best wishes,
Harriet x0 -
Nearly there Rolo. x0

Thanks for your support.
This morning i went and paid for my first months rent and now have the keys. I also took a car full of my clothes.
I am taking the kids to see the house tonight as they have not seen it yet.
We will actually move in on Friday, but will spend the next few days slowley moving stuff across as i dont want hubby to realise. I have hired a van for 1/2 day on Friday to move the kids bedroom furniture and that will be it.
I feel quite peaceful about what i have done but also feel aprehensive about it all.

Thankyou for keeping us all updated.
(If there's one thing that drives me mad , it's someone making a heartfelt plea for advise, MSE'rs posting links etc and the OP never returning)
Hope the children are good at keeping secrets!
Take care and best of luck for Friday.0 -
Good Luck with everything - I am currently trying to come to an arrangement with my husband as we rent and the house is in my name and so he is going to be the one to move out but we are calling a truce till after christmas for the kids sake ( they are still young and we don;t want to ruin it for them )
Not sure hubbie will be able to manage it - if he kicks off again he is out no matter how near christmas we are!!0 -
Good luck Rolo.
Nothing more to add than has already been advised. Let us know if you're stuck for anything in the new house - most of us can source things very cheaply or free x0 -
Are you going to leave a note or something for your husband? Just thinking, it might be best to tell him that you've left him, won't be back, have consulted a solicitor and people know the full situation. Just thinking safety here. Best to make it clear to him so he might twice before turning up at your work, kids schools or somewhere else he might find you?0
