The Nikon 5200 is no longer available to buy new anywhere - whereas the 5600 is still available at many places including Boots, John Lewis, Jessops, etc.

What did you do about your cancelled order, Mecoconuts? Have you negotiated something with Apple?

I hope everyone that has went for the 5600 camera is aware it is a cheaper downgrade to the 5200.

On Nikon website the 5200 is RRP £249 where the 5600 is £199.

That is a very good point. I think Apple are having a laugh.

You do need to bear in mind though that the 5600 came out a year after the 5200 so considering the speed which the digital camera technology moves on and the prices fall, the RRP of £249 a year earlier would probably be comparable with £199 a year later.

Some confusion here...the 5600 is an equivalent to the 5200, but isn't an identical like-for-like duplicate.

The 5200 in my view is a better camera. Better focusing, no flash recycle lag and (despite what others say) has the superior rechargeable battery.

But the 5200 is no longer available. So to get the 5600 at almost 50% off high street prices, with a free SD card - is still a remarkable offer.
  • Anyone know if the the 6MP Samsung A6 on offer at Argos for £99 instead of £229 is a better camera than the Nikon 5600 for £114 ???

Iseems to be a far higher spec for a cheaper price but is the lens or camera any good ?

  • Has anyone that wrote a letter, rather than an email to Apple heard a response yet? I've yet to write, I'll need to be doing it..

Couldn't find a single proper review for the Samsung A6, but it does have more features & apparently more manual controls than most other similarly priced cameras - check out all the Modes links.

    Samsung A6:

Normally I would say avoid extended warranties but since this camera is now under £100 you can get three years warranty for £16.99 and for a digital camera that is not bad at all. If the camera can't be replaced you get Argos vouchers. Worth considering if you do buy.

The camera itself is very similar to the A5 which didn't get bad reviews, most say it was value for money and remeber it was > £200 at the time. The truth is in the pictures though and I have no experience of that.
