  • Just rang my local store:

20% not on dine for £10 offer but will be on 3 for 2 xmas food offer and wines.
If it's free and I can eat it, I'll have it!

Why have they not given any notice of the sale?
  • Hethmar, if you watch the ads in the England / Germany game tonight, you may well get your notice...

Does anyone know if the receipt shows what size an item was? I have a blouse I recently bought, it hasn't been worn and I still have the receipt and the tags are on. I want to go buy it tomorrow and return the original. But if I can't find the same size, could I re-buy it in a different size and return that with my original receipt?

It doesn't say the actual size on my receipt, so I guess I'm asking if the barcode is the same for all of an identical item regardless of size.

They'll only let you know after they've closed tonight due to the fact that, otherwise, no-one would buy anything today. ;)
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.
  • Can't see the attraction to be honest, apart from people getting planned purchases a bit cheaper and staff with their extra discount.

I suppose every little helps; but will 20% really have much impact? Certainly doesn't entice me to visit. But if my Mum wasn't on holiday this week, I bet she'd go.

Hi, I can confirm that the sale is definitely on. My husband works at head office and he is being sent out to work in store as they're expecting it to be so busy.

AFAIK you don't need to physically return the item and buy another. You simply go to customer services with your bought item and your receipt and they just do the financial adjustment. I haven't done it for ages, but I know my Mum actually goes to customer services to get her receipts checked every time she's in after a massive shop.

How much is this going to cost M&S in adjustments I'm wondering.

    Talk about 'half glass empty'!

I think a £20 saving on a £100 spend is absolutely worth while. As you point out though, it is only a saving is you actually need to buy these things. However, at this time of year when most of us have many planned purchases for Christmas presents etc. this really is worthwhile.......in my opinion.

Thanks to the OP and others for the tip off.

That sounds good, but when I asked about that early on in this thread, I was told by a couple of people that I should just re-buy the item and return the original (including advice via pm from an employee). So I'm rather unsure what to do. Has anyone else got experience with getting the price adjusted?
