Anyone know if the Oxfam / M&S voucher thing is still going on?

If so, it might be an idea to hunt through your wardrobe for M&S stuff that you don't wear or want to donate to Oxfam - collect the £5 voucher before heading off to M&S.

    Talk about 'half glass empty'!

I think a £20 saving on a £100 spend is absolutely worth while. As you point out though, it is only a saving is you actually need to buy these things. However, at this time of year when most of us have many planned purchases for Christmas presents etc. this really is worthwhile.......in my opinion.

Thanks to the OP and others for the tip off.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to sound down about it, honest. :)

I only really buy incredibly boring things from M&S; underwear, socks, hankies, school uniform, and hubbie's basic work shirts. So maybe that explains my lack of interest in rushing to part with money tomorrow. :D Although I do have £28 of vouchers.

We're away for Christmas, but for those people who buy a few biscuit selection boxes every year, need wine to entertain etc, then I can see £20 off £100 is helpful. But as I said, I bet most of this is planned spend in M&S anyhow.

Does anyone know if the receipt shows what size an item was? I have a blouse I recently bought, it hasn't been worn and I still have the receipt and the tags are on. I want to go buy it tomorrow and return the original. But if I can't find the same size, could I re-buy it in a different size and return that with my original receipt?

It doesn't say the actual size on my receipt, so I guess I'm asking if the barcode is the same for all of an identical item regardless of size.

There is a huge amount of info on your reciept even though you cannot "see" it.

The reciept shows the number of the item you bought and the size. It includes general information and size specific information and it even tells the staff if the item was sold with the tags attatched or the numbers had to be entered manually, but all this info is hidden in the numbers and symbols on the reciept as well as the barcode.

You cannot get price adjustments as mentioned in another post. If you come across a member of staff doing this they are breaking all kind of rules.

M&S policy is not to do buy back. That means you cannot take an item back and then re buy at sale price.
  • Skibster,

Each size of an item has a unique product code. So yes, if you bring back a size 14, it will have a different code from a size 16, and your receipt will not match the item.

As neverpayfullprice says, M&S do not operate a buy-back policy. You will have to wait for the item to be reprocessed and put back onto the shop floor, which can take anything up to 24 hours in a large store due to the amount of items to be reprocessed.

    Lunar Eclipse,

    re: buy-back / adjustments

I have not heard of this being done in M&S, and it isn't done in mine. It isn't corporate policy, and if such a query was brought to me, I would refer the customer to Retail Customer Services. Especially if the customer had the receipts and none of the items with them. People are welcome to try it, but be aware you may be refused as it is not policy, and staff could potentially get into trouble for doing it.

    --

More generally, if there is an item you are desperate to get, I would recommend ringing the store - today - and reserving it. Customer ordering will not be available on Thursday, and the offer is strictly availability only, so if it isn't in the store on Thursday, you cannot get it later at 20% off.

I would also recommend any savvy shoppers get out early because queueing times are likely to hit 25-40 minutes after 11 o'clock. Most large stores will open at 8am and be open until 12pm.

Thanks so much! I figured there could be a lot of info on that receipt that wasn't visible to the naked eye, lol. So if I can't find the same size blouse tomorrow, I'll just keep the one I have at full price (unless I find a different blouse that will do for the event I bought the first one for, in which case the other can go back!). I already checked online, and they only have two sizes available of the item in question -- and neither is *my* size, lol.
  • Its definately happening ,as i work there! Doesnt include technology or foods, apart from the food items in the 3 for 2 gift shop. I expect stores will be opening later - i know we are!! Happy shopping.!!!

Finally found the link to the Oxfam/M&S voucher offer. It looks like it is still on:
