Post written Tuesday 18 November
UPDATE 19 NOV 12pmThe M&S press office has now confirmed (woo hoo) it will be holding a 20% off one day sale both instore and online on Thursday. It will be on womenswear, menswear, lingerie, kidswear, furniture, home, beauty, wine, champagne, and 3 for 2 Christmas gifts.
What's it about?
There are very strong rumours that M&S is having a 20% off everything sale this Thursday 20 November and that on the day it'll be open longer. Having spoken to M&S it's staying tight lipped, but certainly isn't doing anything to dissuade these rumours.
Some rumours say a lot of the info seems to indicate it'll exclude food and electrical goods. Some say this week's Dine for £10 will be included. Some say it's also going to be online... (I'm starting to feel like I'm announcing The Stig on Top Gear!)
THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED WITH ANY CONFIRMATIONS
What to do?
If you're going there on Thursday anyway then fantastic. If you'd be making a special trip, come back to this discussion on the day to see if there are any updates or use the M&S store finder to get your nearest store's number and call it to check on the day.

I thought this might be of interest if you want to do a bit of shopping and save a few quid
Allegedly Marks & Spencer are planning a 20% discount off everything in the store next Thursday (20th Nov), stores will open longer - 8am - 10pm
They will publicise this next Tuesday
My info may not be 100% accurate but is 90% + ............and you`ve lost nothing if I`m wrong0 -
thanks.
Do you know if this will include food?0 -

Well the 15% coupon expires on Wednesday. I think if the 20% day is not publicised on Tuesday do a 15% off order online you can always return stuff.0 -
Do you know if this will apply on line and if it will include technology stuff.
Thanks0 -
Which 15% coupon? I have a card but not had any coupons & I do spend regularly in M & S.0

They did a couple of days with 20% off about 3 years ago and it was a massive success. I worked for them at the time and we were completely run off our feet but it was a great atmosphere in the store. I remember getting cases of Asti Spumante for Xmas and chocolates / boxed biccies from the Chrsitmas shop as well as a pile of clothes for myself. Staff got their usual discount on top so it was a great morale boost to the staff at the time getting some good bargains. I can't remember if the food was 20% off but certainly the food in the Christmas Shop in the food hall like the tins of Shortbread and the wine definitely got the discount.
Stuart Rose did this to boost sales and I can see it working again if this rumour is right.0 -
Oh my God, as if it's not busy enough on Thursday's that the meal deal starts lol
It'll be like Christmas Eve!I can't look into the future, but the futures where I'm walking to0 -

I remember it too and also remember staff at each queue with sweets/chocolates to keep everyone happy while they waitedI don't remember buying any food so I'm guessing it won't cover the food hall but definitely worth a visit.

Did it include electricals at all?"Those who try to make sense of the world are divided into four categories: scientists, theologians, philosophers, and fools. Correction ... make that one category with three sub-divisions" -- Carlo Kensada0
