  • Ooo happy birthday!! You got anything nice planned? It's your day for everyone to treat you so take advantage ;)

Actually I wanted to hide away and avoid this birthday but have been convinced that the big Three O isn't as bad as it seems  (I am yet to find that out!) so have agreed to a day of pampering compliments of my mom! We are going to spend the day having a massage and facial (oooohhhh I just can't wait!) and then she's booked for us to go out for lunch at Pizza Express (and I'm going armed with my voucher from MSE newsletter - hey I might look cheap but I'm going to make sure Mom doesn't spend too much money on me on my birthday! :T )

Glad to hear that you've had some really good days this week! Well done to you! And clever you for convincing your friend not only to make dinner but to drink his beers too!

I also paid some of my Council Tax today - it was a whack of money (£225.00) but it is money that I've been saving up this money to pay - I will be putting aside £50.00 a week to do it again next month! It shouldn't take me long to get the baillif off my back once I start paying this off regularly! He'll be very proud of me!Actually he's not a mean man, it's just his job! I met him for a coffee (as opposed to him coming to my house and probably land up charging me!) and he paid for mine as well! We met to discuss payments as it was just easier that way for me! ;)

Have a brilliant weekend! I'm off to clean my house and try out the new litter I've got for my cat... this should be funny as the last "new" litter I got him he buried his toy in it! LOL:rotfl:

Sounds like a perfect day, just the kind of thing you want - 30 isn't a bad age - my boyfriend is 30 (going on 31) and you wouldn't guess it for a second it's all about the age you act ;) (And also since he met me just before he was 30 I'm guessing it was his favourite year hahahaha!!)

It has been such a good week - I'm feeling lots more confident in myself and I'm enjoying work again - now I can see the value of money again whereas before going to work on a Friday Night just made me depressed, now I think great some money to get down those debts :T

Managed to earn £55 including tips last night and got the train home this morning (6.30am!) so I'm pretty happy with that amount! Planning a NSD today - I have train pass to get to friends and the rest he's paying for :rotfl:

Well done on the CTax I think once that is gone and you can tackle the credit cards full on it's going to feel even better! Sounds like you have a nice bailiff - I've tried to befriend mine but I've had no such luck - maybe I'll try the coffee trick!

Right I'm off to join you in the tidying up - My parents are coming round tmw and as they decorated my house for me I have to make sure I'm appreciating it when they come!!

Have a fab weekend - catch up tmw!!

  • Well I have a confession to make I spent £1.90 in the end yesterday - I brought a bottle of lemonade for 20p to make shandy with and then instead of getting last train home went to meet my friend in a pub who was driving so could drive me home. This meant however I felt the need to buy him a drink (Coke - £1.70) But a really good night for £3 still :)

Got a shopping list today for this roast and looking forward to seeing my parents! Feeling a bit ill though which isn't a good sign especially with 5 days until Berlin, so here's hoping that a big roast dinner will sort that out!!

Hope you're all having good weekends!

  • Thought I would have another quick work out of my finances for the month left just to give me some motivation to sticking to this...

Balance £240 (of overdraft)+35 (Work money minus what I'll spend today)
    = £275

    less £150 Berlin
    less £150 paydayloan
    less £35 Water
    less £21 Virgin
    less £9 Overdraft interest

    = minus £80

I need to live and get some presents as well as the above mind but it makes me more determined to do it on as little as possible but I've worked out that I will only be charged one reserve fee of £22 which is much better then previous months so what with another weekend working (hopefully) I should be ending December at about -£100 below my overdraft....

    MUST WORK HARDER!!

    .Morning.

Just looking at your thread, is there anyway you could raise some extra cash to get you back in the black. Any extra shifts available at work to get you the £80.

Whats the £22 fee is this for going overdrawn?

  • Well I take every shift they offer me at work.. but I'm hoping that I can get in another couple before I go over the overdraft which should bring me in £80 fingers crossed.... I'm going to put some items on ebay I think as well as getting some quidco money.. so if all works out maybe just maybe I can get in the black this month! The £22 would be for going over my overdraft which is just a pain, though last I got charged it 3 times as went over my overdraft much earlier in the month (£22 charged every week) so if it's just once I won't be too gutted - going to do anything I can to not make it happen though!!

I've started off fairly well though - spent only a £10 all last week. And this weekend spent £21.90... (Dad's birthday ended up costing £20 all together) BUT I have sandwiches for the whole week and enough meat and veg to also last me the week so I don't think I'll need to be buying anything!! I do need some daily contact lenses for Berlin and was thinking of getting a pair of leg warmers from Primark (only £1) but I'll still be within £10 weekly budget (will try and get a contact lenses trial rather then pay....)

All I have planned this week is going to Gym with friend on Tuesday (free) and then maybe a movie night at mine on Wednesday (free)

I know I can get that £80 from somewhere... I've got a couple of pairs of boots I can put on ebay and what with work as well I reckon I might just make it....??

Sounds highly likely you can get the £80 then and would be brilliant if you could keep in the black. Like you said though just one charge is an improvement on previous months so a move in the right direction.

I have sold some boots on Ebay recently. I put mine on a Buy it Now with offers and sold them within a day so may be worth doing similar with yours if in good condition.

  • Feel a bit sick now - just spent £22 on 30 pairs of contact lenses so I could get them in time for Berlin.... if I'd have ordered them online they wouldn't have arrived in time though would of been half the price...

Feel really bad about spending that much money on a vanity... think I might take it off my Berlin Spending money meaning that I get £130 (£60 accomm £70 spending)

I've spent a bit of today researching clubs for the evening and have sent off some emails to try and get guest lists to get the prices down. Think I'm sticking to Shandy's or White wine spritzers when I'm over there... if I get a bit drunk I know I stop caring about how much I spend so need to stay soberish...

Ok I think I feel better taking it off the money I'm going to spend... I know I did need them as my monthly lenses have been irritating my eyes and it's pretty important to take care of your eyes... just wish it was an expense I didn't have to pay!!

  • Your contacts are not a luxury - they are a necessity! Don't feel bad that you had to get them! I only wear glasses because the contacts hurt my eyes and I'd rather see than look like I've been punched in the eyes because they are always red with contacts!

good for you taking the money out of your spending money for berlin! it's only a weekend I assume? How much could you possibly spend in 1 weekend? LOL ok you are a girl so don't answer that!

Speak later, have loads of work to do and off to the hospital in 1/2 an hour to see MIL who's now seeing little children running up and down and around her bed! I want the drugs she's on! It's good to have her back but it's not nice seeing her get sooooo upset with the things she's imagining!
