No - that's about all there is to the trick!! About 3 seeds to a cup - then I'm going to pop in my airing cupboard. I think you can put them on a tray of water and it stops them drying out then as well without getting them waterlogged!

Stopping by my sisters to grab some compost on the way home tonight - I'm quite excited I hope they grow fast!! (or just grow at all!?)

Have £4 in my purse £100 in my bank and pay day is tmw. Have grabbed a free lift down to Plymouth to visit some old friends as well this weekend - is cheap as down there so should be a cheap weekend hopefully!

good ideas to keep you busy. I've been planting veggie seeds and keep checking on their progress. i used the egg box trick last year and also the loo roll trick and they both work fine.
What have you planted?? I've got a garden but I'm just going for kitchen herbs and chili peppers this year as my garden tends to be waterlogged most of the year!!

Hi Guys!!! I'm about to embark on some 'growing' too! I am going for..... (drum roll please!) radishes, carrots and spring onions and my mum (bless her) is starting off some runner beans and tomatoes for me!!! My herbs have survived the winter so thats a bonus.... might do some lettuce too - depends on how much space I have left!!

Good luck - I'm going to be battling the slugs!!

Well done on surviving until payday - I bet that is something that a few months ago you thought was impossible!!

Good luck with the veggies - with the price of salad stuff nowadays, anything that you can grow yourself is very MSE :T

  • I'm obsessed with growing at the moment! It's addictive! I have carrots, cauliflower sprouting already. My sweet peas in loo rolls (another good cheap option) grew so big so quick I had to give them to my Mum because my pots weren't ready! I'm also going to try sweetcorn & sprouts. :D

Brilliant...will try them. I'm just worried about the planting out part. I keep thinking I'll ruin the roots. Then again the chives I planted last year and forgot about have survived cats, rabbits, and being buried in the freak London snow and are growing huge now!

    Have fun in Plymouth!

My Bank balance was in the black today...:D :D:D I paid out rent and straight into the red but first time I've been in the black with my own money for a long time!! Am going to phone up Barclaycard tmw lunch as forgot my statement today and pay that right off.. then it's just a case of spending less money in the hope my overdraft goes down quickly... tmw I'll officially have no debt against my name except for my overdraft.. surely that's got to help my credit rating?

Had a bad/good day yesterday... spent a bit of time on ebay/asos looking at dresses to wear.. I'd got to the point when I'd decided that I'll buy something (thought I wasn't sure what) instead though I went to Primark at lunch.. brought a new pair of earrings for £1.50 and a pair of red heels (gorgeous!) for £4... then when I got home tried on with outfits I already have to reaccessorise and I've got 4 new outfits that I'm happy to wear out now!! Ok so bad because I spent some money - but good because it could of been a hell of a lot more!

Hope everyone's plants are happy... I'm starting mine tonight - picked up the compost yesterday :)

i've planted toms, cucumbers, aubergines, courgettes, peppers, leek, onion, mangtout, peas, french beans, lettuce, spinich and others i can't remember at the mo.
I've got a small veggie patch and a greenhouse.
well done on reassessing your wardrobe with your new shoe purchase. I was desparate to wear some sequiny red shoes under my wedding dress but my mum said NO! (spoil sport)

Yay for a black bank balance (even if it didn't last too long!)

I think £5.50 for earrings and red shoes is a bargain as it gives you 4 new outfits!! I love shoes, and I think I may just use a little of the money I get from my mum for my birthday to buy a cheap pair or 2!! (I know its a sin, but it has been soooo long since I last bought shoes.... I promise they will be DFW friendly!)

With regards to your credit rating, yes it will be getting better.... the only thing to remember (for the future obviously) is that it is a "credit rating" and therefore to maintain a good rating, you may need to put some bits on credit at some point! Obviously with your new ways, you will have the money ready to pay the balance in full when the statement arrives!.... and it doesn't need to be a lot either!!! (one pair of shoes should do it!! :rotfl: )

Good luck with 'the potting' tonight. I am hoping to do mine over the weekend!!

Lemon Tree - That is just mean - your mum not allowing red sequined shoes under your wedding dress!! I don't think you can beat red shoes.. especially shiney or sequiney ones!!! :D
