  • If you did this in a branch go back to them. Your old bank might be being lazy and have not given Abbey the list of DD's. In my experience the Switcher Team is hit and miss. I personally would tell my work i have a new account for wages and ring up the companies you pay dd's to with your new account number.

i was given a 055 no to ring if I need to speak to the manager at my local branch. Just want to know if that's a free no like a 0800 or is it a local no. like 01 or 02 or is it a premium no like 0870 and 0845.

tried googling it and it says 055 no is given for corporate companies, but doesn't say anything about free/premium services

    any help appreciated

Same here. Got a letter (which had my name wrong on it) saying Abbey's contacted my bank but they're not playing ball, so I have to get the list of DDs and SOs. I didn't react as Christmas got in the way.

Got another letter the other day saying "we wrote to you last week... get this list to us within seven days or we'll place your case on file". I was going to ring my bank tomorrow to get it sorted, but when I logged into my old bank account I saw that the bogus SO had paid out. When I got home I found my Abbey Internet banking details waiting on the mat for me, so I logged into my account and saw that the SO had been transferred and actioned.

No idea what the originator number is either, but I'm not going to do anything else now my one and only SO has been transferred... In my experience (including this one) Abbey are highly incompetent and talk cr*p at the best of times, so I'm not confident that I'm going to get the £100, but we'll see!!!

I, too, received a letter saying my 'old' bank wouldn't provide a list of S/Os & D/Ds & would I sort it out. I then decided there were too many hoops to jump through for 100 quid & not to bother. But it transpired that my S/Os HAD in fact been transferred (no D/Ds because these were bogus S/Os that I'd set up on a dormant LloydsTSB a/c...). So I've carried on paying in £1k each month (and paying it out again straightaway) and will wait & see if the £100 is forthcoming. If it's not, I'm not going to fuss too much about it - I'll just cancel the a/c (but I was gonna do that anyway!)

MY internet banking details wouldn't work -- but I wasn't surprised since our Abbey Biz Banking e-banking had gone up !!!!!! creek as well... -- so I just check the balance via ATMs from time to time.
Expect the worst & hope for the best...

Might interest you Suze and Mr K ..... if u havent already seen it : ;)

    http://www.quidco.com/firstsave/

Payment is made by direct debit on a date stated by the customer after Firstsave have done appropriate checks and set up DD etc. First available date for funds to be taken by direct debit was 24th March, I picked 31 March so as to be certain I have cleared funds. ( That was on 13th March)

Worth sticking 1000.00 in, IMO for the 40.00 cashback + 3.6 One year rate.

Clear cookies before going to Quidco to be on safe side if anyone does it.

Validated 40.00 after 6 days. :j Anyone not already with Quidco, 5.00 annual fee can easily be made up by doing a few insurance comparison searches.

Yeah mine went in the other day.
How long before that had you made the third (i.e. qualifying) monthly credit of at least £1000 please? (i.e. how long was the wait after you had met the conditions for payment?)

    (Thanks)
