Just sooner the 3 Monthly credits of 1000.00 have been made the quicker the 100.00 bribe is forthcoming.
"We will pay you £100 cash back as long as you credit your account with at least 3 monthly payments of £1,000 or more within the first 6 months of opening."0 -
i'm having a little trouble with abbey, not even a customer yet!!
applied for account in middle of december, didn't here anything for over a week so decided to call. gave my details to the operator, who then said my address didn't match the system.
after a few minutes rattling of my previous addresses it ended up being from a old savings account i had over 9 years ago. was told to go into local branch with proof of address, did that on 23rd dec.
anyway still haven't heard if i've been accepted and wondered if the original 5 working days waiting for a decision will now be from the 23rd and not the middle of december when i originally applied online????If your lucky enough to be irish, your lucky enough0 -
The opening balance will be what they count I think and that'll be the 23rd afaik. Best speak to them about the offer implications, etc0

paid in 1k in december gonna do the same this month and febuary.
hopefully will get the 100 pounds, cause i had no standing orders or direct debits to transfer.0 -

Can't see you'll get your £100 then... surely it's New Customers only?
Same thing happened to me a few years back with First Direct. They were having an incentive to join them (£50,£100, can't remember now) and I had a few thousand I wanted to invest, so I signed up. All went fine. Account opened. But no £100. I rung to ask why, and was told "oh, it's because you had a joint account with us 8 years ago" (which I'd never once used, and had been closed within months of it opening) so they refused to pay out. Why couldn't they have just asked "have you ever had an account with us before?", during the application process? Would have saved a lot of time & hassle!
Anyway, as I quietly seethed, I simply closed my account, went for a cig, had a dump, and decided never to deal with First Direct ever again. Best thing I ever did. Within 6 months I'd won the lottery & become pregnant in a jiffy. I can't help feeling the two incidents were somehow related...
Happy New Year! :rotfl:

letter today telling me they have opened an account on 5 jan.:j
problem is i rang them on 6th jan cause i still hadn't heard anything and the lady i spoke to said -- " as you have now provided proof of your new address you'll have to make a fresh application".
i double checked this with her as it baffled me a bit and she confirmed it to me again "you have to apply again"
anyway i did again over the phone on the same day (6th jan) for the same kind of account, same OD amount blah blah balh!!!
received call as well this afternoon, accepted for the account!!
found out in the conversation i now have 2 seperate accounts now with them
used the switching service is as well. silly question do i just cancel one of them??????If your lucky enough to be irish, your lucky enough0 -

Any one else experiencing a delay in having their Direct Debits / Standing Orders transferred?
I opened my account in early December and getting a bit worried cause everything still seems to be attached to my old bank, including my wage
Not sure if I'll get the £100 now either cause of this delay! A bit frustrating because I really don't want to be living out of two bank accounts.0
