Not true. There is not always another customer around the corner, especially at the moment. What are facts today are:
- Fewer people are buying new cars
- Fewer people are buying foreign holidays
- Fewer people are making home improvements affecting both DIY stores and tradesmen
- Fewer people are buying houses
- Consumer spending is at a low (depending on what sources you read it's 2, 10 or 20 year low.
Thats due to the current economic crisis, but the general rule of thumb is if you don't buy someone else generally will0 -

I only got a 2:1 on my business degree
true fact of business, if you won't buy, someone else will, fact of life!
Not bad - until you consider i got a first in Law
True fact of business - one unhappy customer tells 10 people, one happy customer tells 3.
If you won't buy someone else will - deary me. Tell that to all the companies that have gone bust or electronics firms like Dixons who had to be bought out by Currys and then reatil only online because their profits fell so drastically. Or indeed many high street companies who continue to struggle and report losses. You are clueless. You must be - to come out with a stupid comment like that which goes against the entire ethos of sales.
Can you imagine the manager coming over and saying "look, if you don't buy it someone else will" He would be fired.0 -

That is absolutley right and i have come to the conclusion d.edna must be a troll. No one would seriously say (and believe) that a rule of business is - if you don't buy it someone else will - thats absurd.0 -

The current economic crisis is the enviroment that businesses are trading in. This is not a short lived blip but is a regular cycle of bust and boom that lasts years. No retail business owner takes the view there is always another buyer/customer.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Such as demographics, Would you really stick a porche delearship in the middle of Salford where the average person living there could not afford a Porche? You are clueless. You must be - to come out with a stupid comment like that which goes against the entire ethos of sales. Can you imagine the manager coming over and saying "look, if you don't buy it someone else will" He would be fired.0 -

Ahh Market forces, Is someone haggling for a few £ off really a market force? I don't think so0 -

Either that or they have seriously dumbed down the degree course in Business Studies. I only have an O level in Commerce and a qualification in accounting which had a module in economics and I know that businesses that treat their customers with contempt do so at their own peril.
Oh I was also co-proprietor with my OH for his retail business for 15 years. I can assure you that every single customer mattered if they looked like serious buyers.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I quite like the idea...
"Jones..I heard you lost the Smith deal...the one you were working on for 5 years"
"Yes, sir...sorry, sir"
"Oh don't worry...if they don't buy it, someone else will....tea?"
The world would be a warm and fluffy place0
