  • ok to everyone im sorry addled brain it was a 5kgram turkey....i blame it on the wine and chocolates :p

thankyou for all the ideas...i just need to work out what to do about the sprouts!! which only i like :D
  • We had a 8kg bird for 14 of us, but at the last minute my mum and her partner couldn't come due to a family medical emergency, plus 4 of the household came down with the sickness bug days before christmas so appetites weren't back to normal.
Had turkey fry up this morning with the left over veg, lunch time i had root veg soup with slices of turkey in.
Still have over half a bird left, it will be sliced and portioned into freezer bags ready for using in anything id normally use chicken for.
We were still eating last years turkey in July this year!
I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)

Will your boys eat pies? You could do a turkey pie, either with white sauce or gravy, with veg in. Or make a load of gravy and freeze the turkey in it in portions (stops it drying out).

Freeze your turkey in slices or portion sizes while it's still fresh and turn it into a pie, curry or risotto when you remove it from the freezer if you can't face any more cooking now. Make a note to use it around the end of January and call it "chicken" so nobody is reminded that it's Christmas leftovers.
  • great like the idea on the labeling.....would definatly fool the other half as he grumbles about eating turkey after dec 25th..!!!

You could also take slices/pieces and egg and breadcrumb them. Then fry in shallow oil. Yummy like that!

(Melt some garlic and parsley butter to pour over the top and you have inside out turkey kiev! I am making this right now for a snack!)

  • My neighbour has given us a turkey today :T it's bigger than I would usually buy and I reckon I could get a few meals out of it.
I would normally get a turkey which would do us Christmas Day and enough leftover for sandwiches.

I thought of a casserole and a curry (need to find a recipe for the curry), both which could be done inmy christmas present from my in laws - a slow cooker:T

    What else could I make?
What do you make from your leftovers?
