so here's the chllanger how many meals can you make out of one turkey?:rotfl:
  • Cold turkey and salad or veg, Turkey and ham pie, risotto, quiche, make white sauce with herbs/lemon and turkey and have it on toast or with pasta ... stretch it out with mushrooms and or bacon ... and make stock for soup.

It's just unfortunate that no-one will want a proper meal until the chocolate has all gone!

How big is this turkey? I can usually divide a bird's raw weight by 200 grams and can make that many servings out of it. Treat it just like chicken. Slice it all up, portion it and freeze it. Then just take each bit out of the freezer, reheat the meat and put on plate with other things.

I do the same as HappyMJ, we portioned ours yesterday before The Queen :D Some has been saved as cold meat the other portioned and will be re-heated as dinners. We do the same with chicken throughout the year.
  • Do you mean 5lb

  • sorry yes :o
  • That's a 2kg turkey- do they come that small? Mine was 7kg sold as an 8 person turkey. So 2kg would be a 2 person turkey . Chickens ate bigger than 5lbs.

We got a turkey crown for 8-10 people. It'll be finished off today. Can't remember the weight of it. It would have made great stock but I had no room in the fridge or freezer for it, so had the throw the carcass out. :(

I have just finished dealing with mine! We got a 3.5kg bird (plus a joint of beef) for the 6 of us. We had a good Christmas dinner out of it and I have manged to stretch the leftovers to -

Enough sliced breast meat for a roast dinner for 4

3 packs of meat which will each do a meal in curry, sweet and sour or pies ect

4.5 (!!!) litres of turkey soup

I also have a large jug of left over gravy made from the gibblets.

All of the above now packed into the freezer ready for skint January with the exception of 4 bowls of soup which we had for lunch with HM bread that I found lurking at the back of the freezer and it was yummy!

    Enjoy your leftovers :money:
