See my earlier post at 2.43pm. This has all the hallmarks of a standard email being sent to all who were unintentionally using "blocked" email addresses and therefore not receiving an auto-response until they changed to an address that worked.
FWIW I would stick with the email address currently registered on your ICESAVE account. You could always for good luck go through the original process for receiving the first email.
Can't hurt, may work!
HOWEVER - see post #3094 where it was sorted via a new email address0 -
When I didn't get the first email, I changed my email address on my Icesave account to a different one and then did the 'send blank email' trick for which I got a response. I then heard that maybe that wasn't a good idea and I managed to change the spam settings of my original email address and reset to Iceave email to that, the I managed to trigger another 'first email' which I received ok. I have now just received the following email from the FSCS:
This email has been sent to you because records available to us indicate that you are a customer of Icesave. If you are not, please contact us by email at enquiries@fscs.org.uk.
You recently obtained a copy of our first email by emailing us at Icesave@fscs.org.uk. It appears from our records that the email address you used did not match the one registered on your Icesave account. In order to help ensure you receive our second email inviting you to log on to the Icesave website, we are now asking you to please log in to your Icesave account and update your old email address with your new one. We will then be able to use this updated email address to contact you when we send out your second email.
If you experience any difficulties with the process, please seek assistance by calling Icesave’s Customer Services Helpline on 0845 605 6050.
Yours faithfully
FSCS
So do I now change my registered email address AGAIN to the new one?
It seems pretty clear they have no idea which customer they are sending this latest email to. How could they know as all you sent them was a blank email? They just know they are sending it to someone whose email address does not tie in with ANY customer of icesave's email address (at the time they did the comparison).
So just ignore it. It won't affect when you get your second email.MSE. Abandon hope all ye who enter here0 -

I am still in shock, my hands a actually slightly shaking. I will never, ever invest money again in a bank/insurance etc. which does not fully subscribe to the FSA's compensation scheme.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the support and the jokes that kept us all going. Though I am off abroad for the next four days I will be sticking around (will hopefully have internet access) to cheer on the remaining Icesave victims. Nilrem, my heart goes out to you in particular and I feel bad that so many of us have got their emails before you: if it hadn't been for you we wouldn't have had this brilliant thread. Really, really hope you are next in line!!
And finally: no, I still don't think FSCS did a good job. In fact, they have made a dog's breakfast out of what was already a bl**dy nightmare. Obfuscation (see their website announcements), contradictions (see Suesie's nightmare phonecall), and inefficiency (it shouldn't have taken this long) are really not to be applauded.
Now I keep my fingers crossed for the rest of us. Big hugs.
Nice one, cosmetichamster! Talk about timely - before you go off on your break. Fantastic news.
Dog has picked a fight with three male black labs in two days and, guess what ... he's a male black lab! Perhaps he's picking up on my increasingly belligerent mood. Think I'd better call in Cesar Milan!
Still no email, still can't initiate ... blah, blah, blah. Thoroughly hacked off. Totally understand Nilrem's mindset.
Amistupid, thanks for the response. I know our grievances come well down in the pecking order - charities, councils, Isle of Man, Guernsey etc. - and we would probably have a fight on our hands, but if we got the ball rolling somehow en masse we may find it a fairly painless, if drawn out, process.
Congratulations to all who have been able to initiate today. Obviously happy for you, but, sadly, the feelings of unfairness and anxiety about our own position cloud those more positive feelings.0 -
TBH I am totally sick to the teeth of all this logging in with no success, just tried again and as usual I was rejected!
I think I am going to have a break from the forum because when I keep reading of people who have got their money I get even more depressed, don't get me wrong I am pleased for you but I feel totally left out TBH.
Good luck to everyone.
I've been trying to keep up with this thread since it started - thanks for doing that, by the way.
Still no joy for me, trying to initiate a couple of times a day just in case.
Have had to arrange to borrow money from my parents as the £36k I'm waiting to get back is part of the deposit on a house that we're due to complete on next week - been served with 14 days completion notice and risk having to pay interest to them if we don't complete by then.

Congratulations to Susie and Cosmetichampster and all the others who have got their 2nd emails and know their money is on its way home.
Susie you were in despair yesterday so no surprise to find you in alt today. You and Nilrem have been the backbone of this little group and I salute you all for the humour and encouragement shown during this time of stress.
Those of us still left without any news or sign of 2nd emails probably feel both pleased for you and a little sad that for some reason we have been singled out for what I cannot but describe as unfair treatment.
After yesterday's rollercoaster I logged on at past midnight and was happy to see the 2 accounts but the initiate "buttons" did not work. The date was shown as 25th. I have just logged on again and the date has altered to 26th but still nothing works so I think this changing of the dates must be a daily routine which we never noticed before but means nothing in terms of activation. Hopes dashed yet again.
Tomorrow is the deadline for sending applications by PO special delivery for several fixed rate bonds. The next 24 hours are crucial for me and others.
Actually I don't hold out much hope. I just want it all to be over one way or another as my BP will not stand much more of this.0 -
