I bought a pack of 25 small plastic snack bowls from the pound shop and some thin gold tinsel, as well as a packet of gold serviettes.

I cut the gold serviettes into quarters and used them to line the bowls - gold side face down, as it then folds in and the gold bits show when the bowls are wrapped in cello.

I then draped the rim of each bowl with the thin tinsel, which I cut to just fit. I taped this on in 2 places on the bowl so it would not fall off when wrapping the full bowl.

I filled each bowl with its gold goodies, which included a gold bauble taken from a pack of 10 also purchased at the pound shop.

Each bowl was then wrapped in cello, tied off with gold ribbon, and tag with poem added.

    Here is a general poem:
    Pot of Gold
Here’s a little pot of gold,
    A festive nibble too,
I hope that it will make,
All of your dreams come true,
    Have a very Merry Christmas,
    From Us to You x

  • Hi those bowls look similar to the ones I used for mine - from pound land 16 for a £1 (obviously lol). They're cardboard - white on the outside and gold on the inside part. They were with the party stuff. A bit flimsy but absolutely fine for this!
  • Ah no mine aren't the same as spring dreams - spring dreams ones sound like a better buy - damn! :)

    I met a little leprechaun
who gave me his pot of gold
I sprinkled on some fairy dust
    but it's treasures remained untold
I'm giving you this festive treat
while wishing good luck your way
so scratch these cards and make a wish
    and enjoy your chocolate feast.

Here's a little pot of love
    Handmade with you in mind
Because I made it, it's unique
Like you, you're one of a kind

    ---

The leprechauns of Ireland, bring this pot of gold your way,
Its full of love and happiness, for you on Christmas Day.

  • Thanks for the info ^^^

I don't sell the items myself. I make them up and donate them to the school. The school sells loads of donated homemade food and other stuff at their various fairs, so I guess they know the relevant rules and have the necessary permissions in place.

  • I use empty Lidl jam jars for pots of gold. They are a nice dumpy square shape, though I agree if you need to make a lot of pots quickly this advice may not be helpful!;)

Love all the ideas on this thread! I'm thinking I may adapt the idea slightly and do pots of Christmas. I know poundland usually sell plastic tumblers with Christmas designs on. I am going to try and cross stitch a Christmas themed keying or luggage tag to pop inside, a christmas scratchcard, and of course some chocolate coins (not Christmas without them!), but what else could I add? Thanks in advance for the help!

    A few quick suggestions:
    Chocolate Christmas decorations
Bauble - you can buy clear, empty baubles which would be ideal if you wanted to personalise them
Mini Christmas cracker (you could make your own)
Party popper (age dependent - not suitable for little 'uns!)
A little gift e.g nail varnish, mini torch etc

    Hope this helps :)
