  • I got these 'Corley & Gill' Glass Votives from Poundland today. Annoyingly they didn't have them in gold, so I got silvery-grey & fushia ones BUT inside they are a gorgeous gold colour & for a quid each who can complain (esp. when they look like they're worth more?) Plus I am going to put a gold tea light in the bottom so they can double up as a tea light holder when the chocolates have gone! :j

Will email finished pics soon! Can anyone help with posting pics/links as the site is telling me I'm spamming & won't let me :(
  • Adds to the excitement if the numbers of lotto ticket have already been drawn? Personaly though I would stick to a scratchcard.... and try hard not to be envious if they did hit the jackpot! ;)

Oh, but it's very, very hard.

I am a generous, kind and supportive soul, not one iota of bitterness in me (:D) but when the only person from a table of 7 to win on the £2 scratchcards I'd put in was my (***unprintable***) witch of a M-I-L it cost me dear to force a smile on my face and not flounce out, slamming the door behind me and shouting

'Why YOU of all people? Eh? Why YOU? You're mean, petty and nasty all year round and now..... now....... NOW YOU win something... Give it back. Give it back RIGHT NOW and I'll put it in a different pot'.

Christmas pudding didn't taste so sweet THAT year!

    :o
Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

I'm not exactly great at 'decorating' nor wrapping up - but then there's no real way you can do this without just 'chucking them in' :rotfl:

    th_IMAG0075.jpg - just the sweets
    th_IMAG0076.jpg - sweets and cards
    th_IMAG0078.jpg - in a hamper bag
th_IMAG0079.jpg - in hamper bag with the gold bow.

no poems yet :rotfl: There will be soon though hopefully :) I had to do them now though as I'm proving to have real perception issues and would still have thought I didn't have enough (!)

I have spent quite a bit on them because I'm only doing 2. They're for me and mum as we've had a really crappy year and it's a real treat. They have proven pretty expensive though, however I've been buying bits since October so I haven't noticed anything.

    In each:

    2.00 - cauldren
    50p - gold lametta
    62p - 2x choc eclairs
    £1 - 2x large cadbury wishes
    50p - 7 quality st
    £1 - 2x nets of choc coins
    £1 - 6 ferrero rocher
£2 - selection of gold covered sweets from local market
50p - gold toffees out of a selection bag of toffees from local shop
    50p - lindt teddy
50p - half a box of reduced small cadburys wishes
    £6 - scratchcards
    £1.88 - hamper bag wrap
    59p - large gold bow
    = £18.59

£37.18 for the two, don't follow my lead and get carried away!

    I might be moving in....!!
  • :D I have just made up 2 mugs of gold

A mug with "HIS MUG" written in blue on the side filled with

A minni green bottle (an unused trial bottle I picked up somewhere along the way during the year) of Lynx Boost.

A big chocolate Santa in red foil.

    3 Ferrero Roches gold nuggetts.

and 6 large chocolate gold coins.

    Pot of gold poem.

A "HER MUG" written in red on the side filled with

A tube of Avon Christmas hand cream (red and gold)

A big chocolate Penguin in blue foil

    3 Ferrero Roches gold nuggetts

and 6 large chocolate gold coins.

    Pot of gold poem.

Both wrapped (individualy) in silver paper with a home made gift tag made of curled ribbon and a picture cut from last years Cards tied round the top.

They look fab even if I say so myself. Will try get a pic.

Their for my brother in law and his wife, lets hope they appreciate them.

Thanks for the great idea, all this cost me £5 a mug but they look like they cost loads more as I got the 2 mugs for £5 in Tesco.

  • Can anyone come up with a verse for a Pot Of Gold that doesn't include a scratch card please?

    Thanks :)

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but Home Bargains have the gold Lindt bears at 6 for £1 - would be perfect for a pot of gold

Our B&Q have little silver or gold pockets that might do to hold the scratchcards in pots of gold. They're about scratchcard size and have a press stud on them with a snowflake on the front.

Well at last my 16 pots of gold are done ....I've done 2 with large coins at the front so I know these ones are for the children as I don't want to put liquers in theirs. Lets hope this year I have at least one winner from my scratchcards ! failed miserably last year with them.
