after all the chaos on my first delivery (all DHL's fault not Dan's) I've just received the second order with no problems at all, within 48 hours of the dispatch email
Do you think my rant at our local DHL manager did the trick?0 -

The good news
All this publicly has brought suppliers out from everywhere and i'm confident we can take "value for money" to a new level! We've got things like Heinez Soups coming in at £1.50 for a case of 12. I don't want to say much more until its in the warehouse but the deals i've made are exclusive to us and will produce belting lines for you.
The bad news
We could never afford a national advertising campaign and over the past couple of weeks we've got one. I'm not complaing but its like from going 5 mph to 100mph in a split second! (i've never expreienced this before as i only drive a van)
I'm reacting to a change in business as quick as possible and in 1 week leased a new packing warehouse and set on 25 people. We still have a back log of orders but there's is a masterplan in hand to sort that out.
We've got a new number for customers to contact us on 01909 488151 with problems but you can still contact me on 07881621603 if you feel your problems are not been soted.
Were having some problems with training and what comes with moving to a 24 /7 operation but i've got some great people around me who are as passionate about what were doing as much as me.
Cheers Dan
i wonder why my posts have been ignored:rolleyes:0 -

Dan i know exactly where you are coming from...my business has gone from not knowing if i was going to loose customers to getting on of the biggest ones in the area....i thought i would have about 2 weeks notice to sort out transport and staff weigbridge etc.. nope i have the weekend:eek:
so guess who didnt sleep last night...:o do the best you can Dan.. and with all businesses you are allways going to get customers who dont come back or think they should have their order the day after they ordered it...
just make sure you do take a breather and take well earned time out with your family.... as i should imagine if your household is anything like ours.. they will feel your stress tooWork to live= not live to work0 -
when i ordered 10 days ago, there was no mention of a backlog on the system, i surely did not see that message! i'm dissapointed really...0

I'm pleased to hear about new suppliers- the soup sounds good. I agree that some of the deals are available in pound shops- but my pound shop is in town and there is no way I want to carry huge amounts of stuff home with me. Equally, some of the stuff is far more drastically reduced. Sorry to harp on about stuff that isn't on the site now, but I am still using jars of tesco kids pasta sauce that were 6 for 50p. That has saved me loads of money over the last few weeks- as has all the packed lunch faves.
A lot depends on what you buy- and I think any shop is entitled to offer stuff to people at the price they can afford and see if people want it. No-one is forcing the stuff into our baskets, and if for convenience people add in a few full price things, that is up to them- isn' it? Tesco and Asda sell loss leaders at times that will compete with the prices at AF- so what? I doubt anyone is going to buy all their stuff from AF- I know those fruitabus claim to be one of your 5 a day, but we are all going to be shopping around for stuff still.0 -
Am I the only one who heard Dan on Wake up to Money on radio 5 this morning aroung 5.45am. His fame has spread far and wide.
I'm pleased he's doing so well, and don't mind waiting till things get a bit less fraught for him.0 -

In these days, Dan, it is so lovely to hear of a company going from strength to strength, and taking ON new staff etc, instead of hearing the bad news of administrations and redundancies.
I don't mind chipping in for some paracetamol for you. I'm quite sure these are the kind of headaches you welcome.
I hope things continue to do brilliantly for you.0 -
Well, I put my first order in on Wed last week (14th) before realising there would be a delay! To be honest, I haven't minded as they have been so upfront about everything on the website and this forum. I got my delivery today - which has cheered me up no end as I'm off with flu! A few things were out of stock, but I did get Bakin' Boys cakes (albeit lemon rather than chocolate!), and am munching on strawberry liquorice as I type!
I would definitely use them again - and just want to wish Dan and his expanding company all the best.
