OMG ... how did you manage the free fridge?? I'm with Southern Electric and planning to ring them today to see if I qualify for any discounts ... I could do with a new freezer so did you get a choice of free product?

It was known as the fridgesaver scheme. New fridge £50 or FF £75.

I just managed to get on the BG essentials traffic after they didn't register us back in July. I have proof on my phone bill I did ring then back then which the number no longer published. They relented when I told them this, but will only put me of from 1st September

I got a confirmation letter this week there rates are as follows

Gas tariff Tier 1 (up to 1143 kWh) 4.192p per kWh
Gas tariff Tier 2 (above 1143 kWh) 2.314p per kWh

Electric tariff Tier 1(up to 225 kWh) 16.120p kWh
Electric tariff Tier 2(above 225 kWh) 10.329p kWh

Im with Swalec and a few months back I found out they do special rates. My monthly dd went down from £113 to less than £80.I had a letter last week telling me as Im on this special tariff they wont be increasing my rate until well after the winter months.Well pleased :D

I'm also with SWALEC and I too am now on their special tariff - energyplus care tariff. Saving up to 20% off their standard prices. I too received a letter telling me that their prices are now going up BUT they won't be increasing my rate untill well after the winter months.

They haven't reduced my direct debits yet - I am waiting for the next statement (end of this month) before contacting them just to see where I stand. My current dd is £63 a month.

Thanks for the link ohreally  . I'll look into it in detail when my head isn't so full of sorting out car insurance  .

I rang the freephone number for Southern electric and they will send me out a form. The line was awful and I could barely make out what was being said, so unless I can persuade someone to speak to them when it's completed, it looks like I'll have to send it in to join the piles they have waiting .... .

i rang edf, firstly they wouldnt move the card meter so it could be reached without going up a ladder at top of steep stairs!! (i have ME and spinal problems)!! 2ndly they told me that income had to be below a certain amount and u had to spend over 10% on fuel bills. I knew i would qualify for this as illness has got worse and am at home all the time now, BUT they use last years figures not current. So dispite the fact that they know full well i pay well over 10% in bills they wont budge. I am moving soon and will be telling EDF where they can stick it, they are extremely unhelpful.

I was told yesterday that as well as discount for dual fuel and paying D/D you can get 15% off your bills if you are on benefit i.e. income support, tax credit, war pension. Age doesn't matter just the benefits you are on.
  • simpywimpy scottish power have a scheme called energycare plus, I emailed them about a week ago and am still waiting to hear back, will post when I get the info.
