Just to help you further rich_shot you will note that Npower have no cut off date for applying in their terms and conditions.
<H1>npower Spreading Warmth Tariffs
The Spreading Warmth tariff is available in conjunction with other qualifying npower tariffs as decided by npower from time to time.
The benefits of the Spreading Warmth tariff will be the same in the case of each qualifying npower tariff it is associated with: an annual discount of up to £125 (excl VAT) for each fuel as long as you remain an npower customer. Your terms of supply remain unchanged, and any discounts for direct debit or dual fuel together with any other features of the qualifying npower tariff, continue to apply.
The application of the tariff is entirely at the discretion of npower, and its availability is limited. The tariff benefits may be altered which may have the effect of reducing or otherwise affecting the amount and manner of payment. It is available for domestic customers only. The Spreading Warmth tariff may be altered or withdrawn at any time.
Eligibility for the Spreading Warmth tariff requires the following:- You must remain a domestic customer of npower for electricity and / or gas; and
- Your total gross household income is under £13,500; and
- One of the following applies to you:
- Someone living in the household is aged over 60
- Someone living in the household is disabled
- Someone living in the household suffers from a chronic illness
- There is at least one child under 16 living in the household; and
- You are a new customer wishing to be supplied under a qualifying npower tariff, or a current customer supplied under a qualifying npower tariff.
- You will have to confirm your eligibility either verbally or in writing, and we may at any time in the future, ask for written proof.
- If you make an intentionally fraudulent claim, we may take appropriate action.
The discounts are available for all payment methods including prepayment.
We may at any time, and at our discretion, alter the eligibility requirements or decide to waive them, though we would tell you if you no longer qualified because we altered the requirements.
Once your account is set up on the Spreading Warmth tariff, the discount will be applied on 1st January 2009 for the first year, but may be applied in installments from then onwards. We will notify you how further discounts will be applied.
You will only receive the discount amounts if you are registered as an npower customer on a qualifying tariff on the dates they are applied.
The discount will be credited to your energy account. However if you have a prepayment meter we may choose to send it to you rather than credit it to your account.
You will be notified of any change to these arrangements.
It is important that you continue to pay your bills as normal at all times and that you do not deduct any expected discounts when making payments.
If you move house, and continue to take gas or electricity from npower at your new house under a qualifying tariff, you should still qualify for the Spreading Warmth tariff, but you must tell us of your wish to be on the tariff and we may check all relevant details.
If we supply you on the Spreading Warmth tariff, you must tell us promptly if you no longer qualify.
If you are taken off the Spreading Warmth tariff, you will be placed on the tariff that you were previously on, if it is still available, or otherwise on the most tariff that we decide is the most appropriate for you. We will notify you of the relevant tariff.
Data Protection
By applying for the Spreading Warmth tariff you agree that we may hold and use the information you provide to us, for the purposes of administering your application and your account with us. We may also use it for the purposes of informing you by mail or telephone of products or services that we feel may be of particular benefit to you, and pass your contact details to carefully chosen third parties for those purposes - unless you inform us otherwise.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
Just to let others know, apparently so I have been informed that the essentials for British Gas restarts in April 09 which is good, but it is going to be just £50 as a one off payment and free insulation and cavity wall insulation too.
A much worse offer than was given before, especially for those who don't need the insulation.

Just got my first bill after getting shifted onto this tariff at the end of November. The rates are as follows
Standing Charge 12.99p per day
Unit Charge 7.89p
This is before VAT @ 5% and does not include the direct debit discount of 5% (I guess these cancel each other out!).
Does anyone know of a cheaper social tariff which would be easy to transfer over to?0
