Hmm, it is only £1 on foot ... I remember the times when it was a £1 or thereabouts with the car when you collected the vouchers. At my age (932 !), getting around on foot is too tiresome !Thank you for reading this message.0

Or if you see the link, it's only £19 return it seems by car (with a free wine too).
We've just returned from a trip with P&O last week, offer was sent out on the P&O email list and we think that they may repeat it in the Autumn (it's the second time we've done it in 4 months - Nov and March).
OFFER DETAILS
£18 for a vehicle with up to 9 people - plus you get 6 free bottles of JP Chenet red/ white/ rose and a voucher for a 2 for 1 meal deal onboard.
Onboad you can also get pretty good deals on beer, though th ebest wine deals are at the Carrefour once you're in Calais. On the ferry you can get trays of 24 x 500ml cans of Old Speckled Hen and Spitfire bitters, plus lagers (brands including Carslberg) for £12.49 - £13.99.
And for anyone who's interested, you can get the 4.5kg Toblerone bars for £46.99 (unavailable in UK and about £70-80 online).
Sign up for P&Os email list fof advance notice of their offers - think they tweet about them too and Facebook (you can follow them there).0 -

They tell you when the offer runs from/ to and what it consists of. Tends to be midweek deals and most availability is early/ not too late crossings, though they've been remarkably flexible about us arriving late or early and getting us onto the next ferry either way (if that helps?)
For what it's worth, one of the stewards told us that the JP Cheney (which is actually very drinkable) takes up too much space onboard (the bottles are an odd shape and the boxes of six are about half as big again as a usual box of six red wine bottles). Sounds as though they will run the offer until they've shifted the stock. who knows when that might be?!?
Either way, the real deals are when you get to France. I'd advise taking a bottle opener, small bottle or water and a plastic cup. We tried out the cheapest wines that caught our eye before buying in bulk - definitely worth it!!!0 -

LOL Hoverspeed/Daily Mirror used to GIVE you £1 and a case of beer for going over with them, possibly when duty free was still available. It opened all sorts of debate as to whether they were a transport provider or a retailer as they must have made their money from the shops not the fares.0 -

I remembere many years ago, a group of us would go over. One of us would go into the hypermarket (Continent) and buy a cheap bottle of wine. It would be tasted to make sure that it was drinkable, and if so we would buy a few more bottles, some baguettes and cheese, and we would find somewhere to sit and have lunch !!
Nowadays we do something similar on the way back, one person buys a coke or something on the ship. Hopefully they have more cups on the bar, and then distribute them around so that we could enjoy our wine, bread and cheese at a table in the bar area ! :TThank you for reading this message.0 -

I am already on thier email list because I've booked with them so I do get bargains, and I've already taken advantage of a similar one in the past.Sounds good about the beer bargains, might pay a visit because I am going over soon, 16 April.
I am looking forward to going over, and I stil think I got a good deal, because £15 each way on a WEEKEND that is the start of the Easter holidays is not to be sneered at
