I can't believe that they are being sent out randomly. They must have files they are working from that list depositors by any of the following:

date of joining Icesave; surname; email address; amount of deposit; type of deposit(s); where they live etc etc.

Just curious, that's all. Not much I can do amount it anyhow.

They'll do it in some semi-random order I would expect, since this isn't too difficult to do, and it will stop any "look at these Zebras getting paid so much later" stories, or people wrongly predicting when they should be e-mailed. They can quite easily generate random numbers, or do some sort of hash, or use something semi-random, such as the time of day you joined.

I hope the people stupid enough to have more than what was 'meant' to be covered are at the very back of the queue, I mean they are lucky they are even in a queue!

How unkind! You obviously are upset that they have more cash than you, have you not considered that people may have placed their cash in Fixed rates well before anyone started warning of the dangers of having more than the FSCS guarantee? Until fairly recently it was completely unthinkable that this sort of thing might happen.

To say they are lucky to be in a queue is silly because had it not been for government intervention people with savings less than £16k would be queuing in Iceland with little hope at all!

That's harsh Gogsboy! Some people deposited savings long before there was an inkling there was a problem, and a lot of people are suffering as they are losing monthly income from lost interest

Well TBH these people with the benefit of hindsight really annoy me, not only do we have to be criticised in the media for being silly for saving with an Icelandic bank when in many cases they were the ones telling us all to save with Icesave but we also have people here who think they are so much wiser telling us we are stupid for having more than they do saved with Icesave!

They're just using an old bingo machine. "It's all hot air and and a load of balls."

Gogsboy - I didn't have more than I was meant to, and as Nilrem points out, I would have been a loser had our Government not stepped in. I am more than happy to go to the back of the queue as I am not reliant on Icesave for immediate funds and I am just relieved to get my money back.

A lot of people are suffering here because they are reliant on either an income from the interest or they had saved for a deposit on a house (some people I think have had real problems after depositing proceeds of the sale of their house and then not being able to access their savings to buy)

Everyone has their own story to tell. Being judgemental that certain people should go to the back of the queue is not helpful

Inkling or not, irrelevant, you wouldn't skip on house insurance / car insurance then come home to find your house burned to the ground or crash your car and rely on the government to bail you out.

I could save over £1000 a year if I skipped such policies but I don't, same as if I had 50k plus saving and the rules said covered to 35k, I wouldn't just say nah it wont happen to me and I do need the monthly income to be fat and juicy.

It's a combination of greed and stupidity, the ole British world owes us a living attitude.

These people could have deposited the funds the day the account was available, what difference does that make, the rules were still the same then, go over the covered amount and you run the risk, simple as.

    Reallity check required by many!

And the harsh reallity is....where is this bail out fund coming from and who will it affect ultimately?

I don't give a monkeys how much cash anyone has be it more than me or the pope.

However if the rules was 35k or night night and people put in more than that, they simply should have been burned and overdosed on humble pie.

So these people are lucky cause if I was one of them I know I would feel lucky, I mean could you get any more lucky, you put in 250k knowing the risks, it goes belly up but all is well, I'd gladly go to the back of the queue to pick that up and manage to scrape past minus my monthly interest!

Where are the government getting this bail out from, is Brown forfeiting his expenses for the next month

Yes and some stories you could sympathise with, others just smell of greed
