The changes to the IceSave system have been done in a remarkable time. The project I work in wouldnt have dreamt of risking destablising any IT system in such a short period. They couldnt have done full testing - business test, technical test, regression test, volume test, operational acceptance test. This is what real, robust IT takes. Not quick but it does work.

I take it that you must work in IT for somebody like Her Majesty's Customs and Revenue then or perhaps NATS rather than a business that needs to be profitable. Or I suppose you may work for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group who took three years to complete the development to allow their customers to look up more than five months of online history. I can't see Michael O'Leary hiring you somehow.:rotfl:

I wouldn't thank them when their complacent use of mass email spam house www.hearfrom.com resulted in 50% of the initial emails not reaching people because they were classed as spam. Also I wouldn't thank this motley crew who previously claimed if you opened several different accounts with Icesave then each one was protected up to £35,000.

Also why thank this bunch of cowboys who have kept some investors waiting a month longer than others for their money but with no compensating interest during the extra month they are kept waiting. Not to mention that no one in the "Instant Accesss" (haha) Icesave account has had any interest since Oct 7th while the staff at Nationwide Building Society have all been getting paid their full salaries.

What a miserable old troll you are!

This is the first time FSCS have had to intervene on such a scale. Their original procedures would have meant a long, paper-based claims process. Instead, they have moved with commendable promptness to arrange electronic, on-line transfers into our linked accounts.

Bear in mind that they had to negotiate with Icesave, Iceland government, IT people etc to get all this agreed and set up.

Although I have not received the blessed 'second email' yet, I am relieved and grateful that this accelerated system has been devised and implemented so quickly. So yes, hats off to everyone who must have worked hard to get it done for us.

And incidentally, many thanks to the lovely ladies at Newcastle who have been unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful whenever I have telephoned. They must have had a dreadful time recently - especially if they have had to put up with moaning, ungrateful whingers like NonGeographicalMan.

I quite clearly stated that I dont work for Newcastle Building Society.

Who do you work for then if you know so much about their emailing arrangements.
Only the mass mailing of interest changes etc come from hearfrom.com. Individual ones acknowledging account opening etc came from newcastle.co.uk if you examine the message headers.

Out of 14 emails received from Icesave in the past 22 months or so only the one opening the account in December 2006 was not sent by Hearfrom/Highfield.

The rest were marketing mailshots, rate changes or blanket changes to terms and conditions all sent by Hearfrom/Highfield and not by Newcastle Building Society on Icesave's behalf.

But as Newcastle Building Society did send the email opening my account and also the third FSCS email confirming the payment of compensation is now to be made then this does clearly beg the question why the FSCS had the business critical first and second emails sent by a bunch of commercial email spammers and not by Newcastle Building Society who actually administer the accounts and who are not classed as spammers by the emails services of most major UK ISPs.

You don't give up do you? When will you learn that if it isn't relevent to the thread, we don't want to know.

I am glad that I no longer work in a corporate environment where a jumped up tin pot dictator like yourself is able to push me around.

I will decide my own bedtime thank you very much and I strongly suspect it is later than that of a corporatist commander like yourself.

And by the way who exactly appointed you as Judge, Jury and Executioner with regard to what is and is not an acceptable posting in this thread.

Yes, you are right, I allowed myself to be sucked in!

It's just that I get so mad when people who must have worked hard and earnestly to get things moving find themselves criticised by whingers.

Hang on surely it was you who incorrectly stated that all the Icesave emails were all sent by Newcastle Building Society thus requiring correction of your wholly misleading post.

Personally I always mind myself utterly astounded when corporatist lapdogs completely gloss over major systems failings by a business operation and slavishly praise even the most incompetent of setups in the hope of receiving their next bonus and major promotion with the organisation.

You don't by any chance work at senior level for HBOS or Royal Bank of Scotland Group or of course for BAA's or BA's Project Management teams for Terminal 5 do you.
