How on earth can it mess up the process for others???

If you do happen to press the "initiate" button all that happens is that you get a message to tell you that you can't process your claim until you've received the 2nd email. It certainly doesn't have any impact on anyone else's claim!!!

It all depends on what their servers are scaled to handle.

If they are only scaled to handle x hundred people - and they get 3 times more because people are desperately trying buttons - it's liable to break.

some of us never got the first, Mr.Smug!!

Why Mr Smug, it's a simple fact that there will be many who will try to claim and could not doubt affect the website, if people follow the instuctions we will all have our money in a reasonable fashion.

I'm sure you have read many posts her stating what to do if you haven't recieved your e-mail, so why haven't you been more proactive in contacting the FSCS ? and stop moaning at others.

I really don't understand people like you, it states in the FSCS e-mail to wait for a second e-mail before you initiate the claims process, yet people are trying already, just wait as soon as the second e-mail is recieved by some people, you'll have loads of others who haven't recieved the second e-mail trying to start the claims process, and no doubt messing up the process for others. Idiots.

I also do understand why people want to log in and try to initiate the claim when we have being told quite clear to log in and initiate when we receive the 2nd e-mail -I would thought that was simple enough instructions .
Is idiots like this who can spoil things for us other "sensible " common sense people -As someone earlier said ,just like those idiots whom try to board a plane in the wrong sequence -people like this should have to wait until last for their money -they have no common sense.

Not very nice IMHO calling people idiots for clicking on a simple link to check if the damn thing works yet! I have not clicked myself but I don't see what harm it does with the odd person doing so, it's not as if all 200,000 savers are going to do it at once is it? Furthermore it is not putting any more strain on the site than people logging in to check their balances which the FSCS has told people they can do.

If the website is so fragile that a few people clicking is going to bring it to a halt then I don't hold out much hope that it will work very well when we need it!

At the risk of jumping into a debate I'm not really bothered about, if the servers could handle the hundreds of thousands who logged on when Icesave went bust then I'm sure it could handle a few more than normal at the moment. But no matter.

How can just clicking on a link that just gives a simple message spoil it for others when it is perfectly acceptable for people to click on the links to check their balance? :)

I really do think that people are making a big issue over this when IMHO clicking the link makes little difference to any one! :)
