Has anyone tried the other firm offering the same 1p/minute rate - Discountdial?

The MSE UK CallChecker and NiftyList both show each offers a 1p/minute 0844 number for calls to UK mobiles.

Discountdial's is 0844 861 64 64.

Yes, I'm getting a fax tone on occasions as well.

When I finally get connected speech quality is not always very good.

Hi Everyone,

I used the cleverrates system on the day that Martin Newsletter hit my inbox and it worked fine, now however for the last few days any mobile number I ring get connected to a fax or Modem tone. I have emailed them twice now to no response, I dont know if I will be charged for these connections so beware!!!

It's still the same now, 10.40 3rd Jan. Nice scam if it's deliberate. I tried four times. The alternative service https://www.discountdial.co.uk 0844 861 64 64 works fine.

I have tried the Cleverates number a few times to different mobile phone networks and have managed to get through with no problems. BUT (and it's a very big but), the reception has been dreadful each time, not able to hear the person I've dialled, interference on the line and I've had to terminate the call and dial the number a different way.

AND ... Discountdial actually works. I never manged to get through on Cleverates.

I can't seem to find the details of pricing for discountdial's number (0844 861) from BT. Is it DEFINATELY 1p 24/7???
