Thanks positive and focused - It is nice to get good feedback on the stuff I'm trying to sell! - I left a basket of cards and wrap in my daughters nursery on Tuesday and went back today to find half of the stuff sold - bought it home to restock it and I am taking it back again next week - So all is good.
Nearly finished the mammoth task of getting all the ebay stuff out - still VERY tight for money, but my child benefit goes in on Monday (also have to buy a tax disc on monday £118 ) but it leaves a little left over.
My sister called today, she works at a temping agency, she rang to see if DH wanted any night work, its only £6 an hour and the shifts are as and when, so he is off tonight 12 midnight till 6am. Its peanuts, but about the only extra way we can earn money as a family and get all the kids too and from school and nursery etc. He is having a little sleep now and I'll get him up when I go to bed.
Have a good weekend everyone if you're reading this

HI Miss O, have responded to your entry on my diary on my diary if you see what I mean! Hope it helps! Take careMy debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

Thanks Positive and Focused - you're a star! :j and it helped loads!
not much to report today, just posted off a great pile of Ebay parcels - went to first post office and there were 3 infront of me and about 5 joined the queue behind, plus woman behind counter was batty so I posted one parcel and drove to the next post office - 2 people in the queue there - by the time I'd finished there were about 6 people behind me, all glaring
- Oh well, it had to be done!
DH has been doing the odd night shift this week, which has badly affected my sleep pattern too - It will help a little but 2 or 3 shifts a week at £36 is not going to solve all our problems
Had a phonecall from MBNA last night - we have been making reduced payments of £84 a month - we owe about £15k and they rang to offer us a full and final settlement of £3800 - he even said he would have to check with his superviser but they may accept even less - How I wish I had that money - and see my debt go down by £11k just like that - I can't even borrow it of anyone -
I feel so trapped by this debt at the moment.
Anyway to be optimistic, I am chasing up my Phoenix orders, had £31.50 of orders yesterday and hoping for a few more today.

Oh that's an awful carrot to dangle - so close but so far away! How frustrating
Just concentrate on making extra money and the next time they ring, you might be in a better position - plus they might make an even better offer.
Don't let it get you down, you're doing really well and are finding your way out. Just keep going!
Something will turn up for OH soon. Are you any closer with the CRB clearance yet?0 -
Aaahhh how tempting an offer from MBNA, wish I could lend you the money to pay them off!
Re ebay postage, I have now started weighing mine at home and printing the postage straight from paypal. All the Post Office have to do is sign the certificate of postage and avoids the nasty stares. I had 32 parcels the other day :rotfl:1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!

Hi Macgirl and IMD!
Yes, as tempting as the offer is from MBNA, we just can't do it - will have to see what happens now, as even though we have been making regular monthly payments by standing order, they are still not happy and are passing it onto a debt collection agency.
Need to put a couple more things on ebay this weekend - like to keep it ticking over - thanks for the idea IMD of printing off the postage - I will certainly consider doing that, next time I have loads to post.
The rain is teaming down here this morning, but I don't mind. I don't have to go anywhere today
My CRB clearance hasn't come through yet but my new employer has said she is going to speak to her line manager about doing a risk assessment so I can start without it, on the basis that I am not going to be unsupervised near the children - I know its absolutely necessary, but it still makes you feel a bit like a criminal!
DH' wages came through today for last Fridays night shift - £28.80  that is for 6 hours midnight till 6am doing some of the hardest manual lifting work you can imagine - absolutely disgusting, he may as well hang his pride up at the door on the way in and collect it on the way out. Until I start my job though, we need the money, but I don't think he will do any more (he's done 3 so far) and I don't think it would be fair of me to ask him to - I wouldn't work for that pay.

 That is SHOCKING about OH's wages. It's not even minimum wage is it?
I really hope something else turns up for him soon. Maybe now the recession is officially over (not in our World though eh?) employers will loosen the pursestrings and start recruiting again.
Hope the reason you've not been posting is that you've started the new job and are busy. Hope all's well with you x0 -
Hi Macgirl - Thanks for thinking about me! - Sadly, DH's wages were above minimum wage - £6 an hour - but after tax a 6 hour night shift only netted the sad amount of £28.80
I haven't started my new job yet, but I've been very busy preparing for it, I start on Monday and will be doing the first 2 weeks full time to learn the job.
I don't have much else to report, my camera lead is playing up, so I haven't been able to do any e-baying.
Feeling really positive and upbeat though - its been lovely to see the sun in the sky the past 2 days and I am looking forward to spring!Emergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -
I'm with you on the Sun! It's such a great feeling when the nights start stretching out a bit too isn't it?
Good luck for Monday - hope it all goes well

Wow, have I really been away since February? - How time flies when you;re having fun

So here's a quick update for anyone who remembers me.- I started my 'new' job in February - so been there 9 months now - during that time, I have had an increment and a 1% payrise and have been able to purhcase a mountain bike at 40% discount through their cycle to work scheme
- My youngest started school in September aged 4 and 4 months - she absolutely loves it - have had no problems at all
- OH has got a job - 45 hours a week and dodgy shift pattern that means we have to rely on other people to help us out a lot with school runs etc, but feels good to finally be able to make ends meet - There is talk of it ending at Christmas, though so if that is the case, will have to deal with it as it happens
- Debts - Not increasing, but going down painfully slowly - Going to start tacklilng them one at a time - starting with Next (in my sig) as although this is the smallest debt, it is the highest interest rate and costs us the most per month
