Mlorning All!
Was up for a couple of hours in the night - went to bed exhausted but wide awake within an hour or so! Never mind - I dealt with the washing (and drying - very non-OS, but that seems to be me at the minute!) and then read for a bit before crawling back to bed. Horribly wet and grey here just now. Big shop done (tho' actually not that big - we seem to have quite a bit to use up this week) and plucking up the energy to tramp round the field with my two dogs. Sewing this afternoon I hope - and we're off out this evening to treat ourselves now that the bricks and mortar are finally ours!
((Hugs)) to all feeling unwell or just a bit low today. Aussie - hope that protest gets results! Congrats to all who are studying - my brain seems to be steadily turning to mush so I really admire you.Resolution:

Morning all:hello:
Just a quickie cos i'm helping DD pack as she's moving out today:j :j :j
The flat isn't up to scratch at all, but she wouldn't let me check it out before she signed the tenancy agreement, but she keeps making daft decisions so who am I to say anything?
Not much OS stuff going on today, but will come back and update later.

HI everyone, I've got my baking head on but don't know what to make today
just can't get myself activated, the weather's lousy, pretty cold.
I think I'll make some little cakes, like fairy cakes or rock cakes, will they keep for the week in a tub so I can take one a day to work in my lunchbox?
Got to get the washing out of the machine in a min when it's finished.
Just looked on Freecycle and someone's offering 2 tickets to Alton Towers for tomorrow - have the rides finished for the year now? If we get lucky we'll have a carvey there, be a good day out, we'll wrap up well. :cool:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Barneysmum the cakes should be OK for a week, but if you have room they can also be frozen. Take one out in the morning and it will be defrosted by lunchtime.
Afternoon everyone -not read the thread yet so I hope everyone's OK.
Miscellaneous leftovers for lunch. I'm planning a curry feast tonight to be eaten before Strictly -does anyone else's Saturday revolve round this programme? I want to make naan bread so I'm off to search out a recipe;)0 -
Hello, everyone! Hope you're all having a good Saturday so far. I'm just in the middle of tidying the kitchen, put on a bit of fantasy-metal (because I'm strange like that!) and then I have a very old-style afternoon planned. I'll be preparing a massive lasagne, prepping a load of veggies to go in the freezer, and probably doing some baking for in the week. If I get time, there'll be ironing (I'm rather naturally putting that off though
). Had a very nice microwaved tomato risotto for lunch, and after a lovely hot bath I feel ready to take on the world! Well, the kitchen at any rate

Hi all :hello:
cold and wet saturday here, spent the morning cleaning and will do some studying this afternoon
had a knock on the door earlier, a man saying he had heard about the tree on the house and that it was an Alder, he wondered if we had any spare wood as he carves lovespoons and alder is very difficult to come by, he wanted to do a spoon for his daughter's wedding next yearhe brought some with him to show me they were really lovely, I told him that most of the tree had gone but there were some small pieces on the riverbank, DS climbed down for him and got a branch.
Not sure what to cook later, will look later for inspiration

Hi everyone
Not been on here for a week as I have had nothing OS to post really, how do you working OS'ers do it?
I am just a part time OS'er at the minute.
I am really pleased with myself today, I did my washing and put it in the tumble drier and then...... I took it out again and pegged it out! I am addicted to my tumble drier so am trying now to wean myself off it lol.
I am planning... just planning at this stage... to have a mega tidy up today as OH at work till 7.
Been to Tescos this morning as someone told me that they had reduced the Disney Cars toys... I got some fab bargains and now dont need much more for my DS for christmas. Still got hardly anything for DD though.
I have baked a load of potatoes for my lunches this week following a thread I read on here, I think they taste lovely when they are reheated. How long will they keep in the fridge? I am not sure whether to just bung them all in the freezer or leave them in the fridge.
Need to do my weeks menu plan and a nice little job list for my OH as he has took the week off work to get ready for moving. Loads still to do.
See you later0 -
Hello sickofhaving.... how do full-timers do it? hhhmmm... waiting with interest to see what others say. I just do what I can. Went to MrM this morning and bought one of the half price top roasts and also a farm chicken (more expensive than cheap but not organic). I'm doing the beef tomorrow (just for me
as I'm on my own til Monday). That will then do sandwiches for work and also a couple of heated up meals like stovies. The chicken I'll cook later in the week, probably roasting it and then make soup with bones. That will do a few meals and lunches. I'm trying to cook as much as I can from things that have either been alive (eeek) or grown and trying to avoid the artificial stuff. I might order a veggie box for Wed as this does make as eat our 5 a day and more.
Other OS stuff is shopping for as good prices as poss, as others do. I don't go to more than one supermarket at a time as I don't have the time but I do scan their leaflets which come through the door and menu plan around them and what's in the freezer. I have to update my grocery costs from £19 odd but haven't spent a lot this month, mostl;y by staying out of the supermarkets because of my cold and lack of voice. However the squeak is becoming more of a voice again!
Plans today include lots of reading for a poss future course and a bit of general tidying up.
Might try the beef in my old slow cooker tomorrow to see if it's still working.
By the way - I've changed to EON, both gas and electricity and the electricity is soooo high!! They estimated it as both DH and I thought the other one had read the final meter. The latest is an actual reading so it's 'real' but the start is an estimate. The gas is only half the price of the electric and we have gas heating, water etc. Will have to ring them. Anyone have advice before I do?
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.
(((hugs))) to poorlies
w
just been on to E-ON and they say are pretty sure my bill is correct. Have to take meter readings daily and report back in a few days> NO electricity is being used here!!!! (apart from ketle and computer, oh and lighting and TV for Strictly tonight hehehe)0 -
