Exhausted trying to chase good rates

I had no end of trouble accessing this account when I originally opened it and ended up having it re-set 4 times! Mind you, I had similar issues when trying to open an account with Abbey earlier this year so guess I shouldn't be too surprised at the same shoddy service really “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

I have opened a Halifax Guarenteed Saver Reward too but on the account screen it does not say the reward bit and interest rate is showing as 4.5% instead of 6%. Has anyone queried this with the Halifax? I have an acceptable current account and meet other criteria.
Any thoughts?0 -
When I opened this account in October the rate was 6.51% then a week later they cut it to 6.01% now you say it's 5.85%?
You are referring to the Internet Saver 3 and not the E Saver 3 are you?
If the reason for the drop of 6.01% to 5.85% was the 0.5% reduction bank rate in October, what was the reason for the drop from 6.51% to 6.01%?
So glad I only got round to putting in £150. The money I intended for that account, I actually put in Coventry BS 50 Plus eSave fixed at 6.25% with instant access and no penalites...rare eh?
Having said that, I'm having trouble getting my Web ID out of them and I'm not the most patient of people.
5.85% is the monthly interest = 6.01% AER so only the one reduction (so far!)0 -
I got fed up just trying to open enough accounts to split money into £35k chunks. Then all the accounts dropped their rates anyway. And it's a pain in the 4rse.
They want our money, but make it difficult for us to give it to them.
All I really wanted was all the money in one high interest paying account. But no, I had to open many.
And now I want different/new accounts, bonds.
Too complex!!0 -

It is I agree! But at least you can split into 50K chunks now
Chasing rates is a nightmare, all many of us want is a quality 100% stable bank to save a decent chunk of money and expect a good interest rate.0 -

Wish I'd put more in the Icesave FT now!!!!!!
I know how you feel. My husband died last year, and all this is a nightmare, isn't it. I feel for you.
I wish you luck. I hope things improve for you.0 -
I got a phone call from my bank (Lloyds TSB)this afternoon, telling me that their 6% fixed account (which wasn't advertised anywhere, and so I knew nothing about it) was closing at 4.30pm, and if I was interested in opening one, I should get there quick!
They had noticed (ha ha) that I had a largish amount in my current account. It was on its way to my Egg 6.3% fixed account, so I declined their kind offer.
First time they have phoned me, and I've been with them around 30 or so years.0 -
They all want it. Why can't they just say:
- all your money guaranteed. 6%, no faffing about, sign up online and no silly ID needed because we're sure you've already been checked by 10 other banks and we love your money.0
