I think I'm giving up
. I cant find anywhere where I can open an account tonight and fund it instantly. If there are any accounts still offering a good rate tomorrow I will retry.

Me too.
I want to fix for less than 12 months. Was considering the Halifax 7% 3 month deal but then thought about likely rates in 3 months time. I originally poo pooed HSBC 4.5% for 6 months (I have a current account with them) but perhaps in 3 months that rate might seem generous. I've asked for an application form for the BMS 6.97% for 6 months. However, I'm thinking it'll be gone before I can get my money invested. Oh, it's all so confusing!0 -

I know what you mean.
I had money in my KE account so it was easy enough to transfer it into a one year 7.15% fixed term immediately.
Then someone here said that KE stopped taking deposits ages ago, so even though I managed to open the account, they'll probably close it anyway. And by the time I get my money back all the good rates will have been withdrawn.

I'm lucky I spotted this a couple of days ago http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/guaranteedsaverreward.asp as I already have a qualifying account with Halifax I was able to open it instantly. The site is still saying it's available until 1 Dec. Seems good if you don't make more than 4 withdrawals in a year0
