Anyone know where i stand with my faulty plasma?

So where you live its perfectly acceptable to pay £1100 to a tiller for an unworking product, so long as it gets fixed within a "reasonable" period of time, lets say (3-4 weeks), on a recommendation that you can "borrow" such workable equivalents from a good friend, at least til its repaired?
Seems a bit far fetched I agree! bear any resemblance?
Any products of past that I have bought that turned out to be faulty, I must be extremely fortunate that such items were replaced, i.e. I'm not prepared to pay for faulty goods or for goods that have been previously repaired. Nor am I likely to buy such items that I may have to wait 3-4 weeks to appreciate. Even less chance that I am prepared to pay for a product that's going to need repairing within 3-4 weeks time.
If that in some way makes me criminal minded, intent on some bizarre connection that im involving myself in stealing £1100 from a till on the off chance that it takes 3 days for the police to act on it....Well just call that Elementary dear Watson.
The TV was working when purchased, and worked for over a year.
Consumer direct state you are not entitled to a loan unit, only to have the TV repaired in a reasonable time.
You have been lucky by having faulty items replaced in the past, however Empty Pockets seems to think he is within his rights to take the refund, even if it is not offered, and according to Consumer Direct he is not entitled to.
I would allow the company concerned to repair the TV, if it took more than a month I would ask for a replacement. Loan units are not a service the retailer has to offer, despite what people on here seem to think.0 -
I didnt realise the telly was over a year old before it broke, I assumed the OP had just purchased it, my apologies, yes under circumstances of a year, id accept it needed to go for repair:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

And can i ask if the people who are saying its fine and you should be able to do without a tv for over a month, do they have kids?Waddle you do eh?0

Id say NO its not fine if you have kids, but if you've had the telly for over a year and its broken down (unless you have rented), you have the choice of staring at a broken telly, or sending it off to be repaired. Had the telly been brand new, a replacement or refund I think is acceptable, I wouldnt want to pay for a "recently repaired" new telly.
But if I had the telly for over a year, I couldn't possibly say it was like that when I got it. I would have to consider some temporary measure until it was repaired.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Ive got 2 thanks, there is lots of other things to do rather than stick your kids down infront of a TV0 -
Kids can do other activities unless its easier for parents to part them infront of a TVricflairandy wrote: »do they have kids?
Like reading, I remember as a kid reading the goosebumps books (DO they stll do them) and wanting to complete the series, I mean, the kids need to entertain themselves not rely on a TV!!0 -
I love blaze attitude some of you have , the way people assume that your kids do nothing but watch tv , get real people. My kids do gymnastics 3 times a week, kickboxing twice a week and one of them does read (the other cant read yet as shes only 3). However to ask them to read every day and not play on the wii, or watch the tv programs that their friends in school are going on and on about is just not on atall. I do not want my kids being made fun of or feeling left out, moreso the older one. And before i get "dont you think your going over the top" no i dont. You know what kids are like , they can be very nasty.Waddle you do eh?0
