    (a)repair or, as the case may be, replace the goods within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience to the buyer;
    (b)bear any necessary costs incurred in doing so (including in particular the cost of any labour, materials or postage).

    Is going without a television for a few weeks "causing significant inconvenience"?

    I don't believe it is, although the OP seems to think so.

    I know if I didnt have a tv for 4 weeks (or 8 as others seem to take apparanlty) it'd be a major inconvenience to me. I use my tv as a tv and a computer screen. I wouldnt be able to access my pc for 4-8 weeks therefore meaning I couldnt work.

    I also wouldnt like not seeing the news etc.... Normally i either catch the 6 o'clock news or read the bbc website. Without my tv i could do neither.

    Plus the fact that going 4-8 weeks without watching tv is a long time if your used to watching half hour every day or so. Even if you dont watch it everyday not having one for 4 weeks you are definitely going to notice. Not to mention eh spent £1100 on it so you expect it to last atleast 5 years.....ATLEAST.
    This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

    Thanks, im amazed that some pople throw around the "cant you do without a tv" comment.
    I also use mine for my pc, work and none work realated. When you add in the kids , game consoles and the wife who is at home minding the youngest. Its a major inconvenience for the whole family. Its the only tv we have.

    You asked for the legislation and I provided it.

    Approximately 4 weeks without a product would be unreasonable in my view. As others have said, TVs are prime forms of receiving information.

    I think its reasonable under the circumstances to at least be entitled to have a product you have paid for, whilst under repair, to be reconvened at least in some form of temporary replacement. If my brand new car breaks down, am I not entitled to a courtesy car until it is repaired for example?

    But will Empire Direct view the loss of the TV for four weeks as "causing significant inconvenience"?

    Yes I defiantly would, especially if you are paying Sky every month for premium channels, would they refund you the month because you don’t have a TV to watch it on, don’t think so, a week without a TV would be a major inconvenience.

    Don't think it is down to what they think but what the position at law would be.
