Is sad to see this descend into an row about how individuals interpret laws and details.
Why do we not all just wait until the OP has asked Emp Dir to solve the problem and see what they say? They may offer him the world / a solid guarantee of repair time / a loan TV or none of the above but there is no point guessing.

On a slightly different tack, I always thought that faulty plasma displays could not be repaired. I guess a replacement is the only option, question being whether ED will honour the warranty.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I would agree with you in hindsight, should you actually offer any common sense other than "borrow a mates telly", don't write any letters, Effectively the OP is asking the company if she can "borrow" a telly until its fixed. Why you see that as an issue, other than feebly trying to be objective for the sake of argument, which I am beginning to suspect,...unless of course you have anything more constructive to offer, I would advise you not to judge people who seek advice or offer it, reply with likewise structured advice, and less of the mud slinging.So instead of borrowing a TV, and getting theirs repaired, the OP writes letters, waits weeks and then takes court action?
I would borrow a TV and let them repair the plasma, lots of people on here seem to want to make life difficult for themselves, rather than easier.
So when the shop staff refuse you, as they don't have the authority to do it, you will force your way pas them to the till?
How long before the police turn up?

The advice I offered was a quick fix, which is what the OP needs, as his TV is unwatchable, and is used as a computer monitor, and the whole families source of entertainment.ricflairandy wrote: »

Although the suggestion was failing a replacemnt, to demand a refund, not take court action, if they refuse to refund, replace or repair,....I would take them court yes.
I don't think you would get very far, and neither do consumer direct:
Unfortunately the Sale of Goods Act 1979 does not make provision for loan televisions or other goods where ones purchased by consumers become defective. Although any repair should be carried out within a reasonable period; a typical period could be up to 4 weeks. If this was to be exceeded then a consumer would be seeking a replacement but this would be through the retailer from whom they purchased the goods .

Any products of past that I have bought that turned out to be faulty, I must be extremely fortunate that such items were replaced, i.e. I'm not prepared to pay for faulty goods or for goods that have been previously repaired. Nor am I likely to buy such items that I may have to wait 3-4 weeks to appreciate. Even less chance that I am prepared to pay for a product that's going to need repairing within 3-4 weeks time.
If that in some way makes me criminal minded, intent on some bizarre connection that im involving myself in stealing £1100 from a till on the off chance that it takes 3 days for the police to act on it....Well just call that Elementary dear Watson.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Red speckles on a LG Plasma is a very common fault , if you google you will some people have had some success resetting the TV have you tried this ?"Just turn off the TV, unplug it, then hold the power button down for 30+ seconds, then plug back in"0
