Afternoon everyone,
I`m having a well earned sit down complete with cuppa
Mr Sunny has left for w*rk after walking the houndies and i`ve just cleared space in the kitchen for the next batch of cooking.
Thankyou very much for the potato and leek soup recipe Charlies_Mum, i didn`t use the peas either and substituted the bouquet garni with bay leaves.
Lovely soup and i shall make it again:D
The beef stew is a cooling in the kitchen waiting to be portioned up and i have 2 batches of bread rolls proving at the moment, i`ve also managed to do a new freezer inventory - i can hardly believe how much food there is in there  i shouldn`t have to shop until the end of January if i were to empty it. After Christmas i shall do just that and see how long it all lasts
i do seem to hoard food though
Chrisca50 - I always used to get awful indigestion with bread but since i got the breadmaker i`ve found that my own bread dosen`t seem to have this effect at all. Probably because there are no nasty additives in it. My mum gave me one of these www.lakeland.co.uk/bread-keeper/F/keyword/bread+slicer/product/5052 she hated it but i love it even though DH snapped one of the prongs off it and hoped that i wouldn`t notice
Ivyleaf - Your cupboard sounds much the same as mine, mine does have a door on at the moment but it will not close properly. I recently bought some of the smallest size storage baskets to put some of the herbs and spices and packets into to make things easier to find but that didn`t stop me getting hit in the face with the hairdryer yesterday
I don`t know why the hairdryer lives in this particular cupboard at all but there is nowhere else to store it. Have a lovely lunch with Churchmouse.
PenPin - As others have said - we are interested and we care about you lots. ((((HUGS)))) for you. I know that it is a scary time for you, when i had my first op i was absolutely terrified, it`s only natural that you will feel like this but things will be much better afterwards. :grouphug:
I`m off back into the kitchen to start off some more cooking now.
Catch up later peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

PenPin, if you're having a private room, there will be more space for when you're having visitors:) I hope you are feeling better soon, and hope everything goes according to plan. Sounds like you'll have lots of the right people on standby if needed. :grouphug:0

Afternoon everybody :hello:
I must apologise that I have nothing OS to say today at all
Just came on really to wish the best of luck to PP for the hospital stay, and for the op if they decide you're well enough - I'm sure they will do what is best for you (the private room is evidence of that).
As you know, I'm only a phone call/text away if you fancy some company, and if I see you logged into MSN I'll know it's your DH and I'll say hi
I've only really had a chance to flick through yesterday's thread, but the bits I can remember are to send hugs and good healing vibes to Pink's DS and VickyA's mum. And also to Pink and Vicky of course
:grouphug:
Yesterday one of my colleagues died very suddenly and unexpectedly at home. I did not know him well, and am not personally upset exactly, but he was one of the first people I knew when I joined the company and I've seen him on an almost daily basis for the past 8 years. He was only 45 and married with two little daughters, one of whom was the one to find him dead - I can't imagine how traumatic that must be for a child. A lot of my colleagues are very shocked, including my boss, who used to be his line manager many years ago. Just goes to show that no matter how carefully you plan your life, you never know when something is going to come and strike you like a thunderbolt.
Sorry for the doom and gloom and the lack of OS...
Rzl xx

bargainrizl - what a dreadful thing to have happened, his poor family. And I know exactly what you mean, whilst it might not affect you like the death of a close friend it certainly makes you feel peculiar and think about things.
Marie - hope Ulick is doing well, and is trying harder to be a model recovering patient - or should that just be a patient patient!
Candy - good luck for the move, and sending nice thoughts for you and your family, especially your mum. How's the supply work going, any good news yet?
Well now it's raining, suddenly chucked it down, so my airing washing is now dripping! Off to pull the panel off the bath now as it seems to have sprung a leak! Does plumbing count as old style?! xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
just popped on while the boiler man is trying to fix it!
PP - good luck for next week, hope it all goes to plan x
Rzl - what a terrible thing about your colleague, my heart goes out to his family and work mates.
boiler still making weird noises, think he is a bit perplexed:rolleyes:
Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Afternoon everyone,
More sunshine down here - it's lovely. Just wish I was up to using the stairs so I could go out! Have nagged the OH to bring in the last of the chillis and peppers that are out there but he keeps forgetting.
Welcome Bargainbird, good to have you with us
sistercas - thanks hon
Nimbo - I know honey, it's like we lost the ones who thought we gossiped too much AND the ones who now think they cannot post cos they are not OS enough. It's a real shame.
pink - hugs to your son and you
Lamewolf - I struggle so hard with meal plans - I have all my lists of what we have up to date, but I just seem to freeze when I think of planning for 7 days...lol
VickyA - hugs to you and your wonderful mum
Taplady sorry to hear about DS job hopefully one will come up soon for him
PenPin - Just like everyone has said - of course we are interested because we care about you. I know you must be scared but we are all here with lots of positive thoughts for you *Hugs*
We had chicken stir fry last night with noodles. My OH is such a good cook these days!
Bloody Motobility are driving me up the wall. Between them and the garage where our car has been for the last month, we are getting more and more stressed. The garage delivered the car back but there was a strange warning light on that certainly hadn't been on before the crash, but the garage are saying it is nothing to do with them so between them and the insurance agents and Motorbility we now have to take our car all the way to Exeter on Monday to be looked at but they are picking the hire car up today, so we have to drive the car with this warning light on, the whole weekend. I wouldn't mind so much, but they all decided this just this morning, after originally taking the car back to the garage to fix the warning light, they are now unable to, because the insurance company have decided that it is a warrenty issue and not an insurance issue. I wouldn't mind but we paid £75 excess which is a HUGE amount of money for us to find.
Ok, rant over, sorry, but the guy rang just as I was posting and you got the end of my frustrations that he didn't get...:rotfl:
to everyone who needs them today.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Afternoon all
Weather here's been rubbish most of the day, no washing done today, spent money again, even though I'd promised myself an NSD  . Not much OS here either - must be something in the water cos a few others have said the same. Still got tons of clearing to do, but got new sofas AT LAST! :j Long story, but we gave our old ones to DS1 when he moved into his house in April & have been without ever since. It's SO nice to go in the front room & sit in comfort again - even tbough we had to pay £40 to get them delivered!
Ironing after tea, then sort through Christmas pressies already in cupboard & make a few cards. I found a few 'new' books & other things in my wardrobe that I've bought over the last few years & never given to people, so they're going to be wrapped & will become presents this year, which will reduce my pressie bill. :rotfl:
Hope your days/evening have been/will be good - good luck for the hospital PenPin - & love/kisses/hugs to those in need! :kisses3: :grouphug:

Afternoon, all.
First and foremost, PenPin I wish you the very best of luck in hospital and hope that all goes as well as possible for you. I too would be scared in your place, but you do have friends here rooting for you.
Stew last night was ok in the end - we finally sat down to eat at 19:30, so it wasn't too bad, and Mr LW loved the herby dumplings I'd made.
Tonight's is HM nut loaf (already in slices in the freezer) with rice and HM sweet'n'sour sauce with pineapple chunks (can do this with my eyes shut!)
It needs to be something straightforward and quick tonight, as we have a Mensa meeting to attend.
Had a call from a friend today that I haven't seen for over a year; we used to visit her fairly often, but can't do it now as she has 12 steep steps up to her front door, and I can no longer get up them. Her coming to us isn't practical, as she doesn't like driving (it's 40 miles each way) and has a houseful of animals that she can't leave for too long, so she'd only be here a couple of hours in any case. Anyways.... I'd looked in the Good Beer Guide and there's a nice pub within walking distance of her place that I can get in (friend checked it out the other day and landlord has offered help if needed) so we'll arrange a day to meet up there and catch up.:p
Mr LW is on early shift tomorrow, so will be w*rking from home and finishing at 15:30, so I'll get him to take me to Morrisons after w*rk.
Anyway, ((((HUGS)))) to all who need them.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
