Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Thurs 6th November, 2008. It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.
Morning all

Morning Redruby and all who follow,
Day off again, and again I'm up early:o Still at least I got some sleep last night.
Got DS a new (secondhand) bed yesterday. One of those with a bunk and a double futon settee on the bottom. He's got a double bed at the mo, but what with the two drum its, and four guitars, not to mention, the PS3, Laptop, etc, you can't move in his room:rotfl: :rotfl: so I thought maybe this will give him nmore room. what's the betting he'll fill up the empty space?
Got to buy him a quilt and bedding now, as I don't have any singles anymore
Going for lunch with my Dad today. Been very OS the last few days. Had DS's 18th party at the weekend. Invited about 85, about 40 turned up, in a hall for 100!
Loads of people were ill tho. Bugs going around. So we've been eating the leftovers. 40 chicken legs in my freezer! Curry last night. Don't think I'll have to buy food for weeks:rotfl:
Anyway, enjoy the day!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0

            Morning all
Hi Ruby, looks like we are the only ones about so far (oops Hillstep, we crossed).
REally misty here this morning, or maybe it's all the smoke left over from the bonfires and fireworks. It sounded more like a war zone last night, why do all the fireworks have to have such loud bangs. Charlie barked himself hoarse
Muishrooms on toast for breakfast, I love mushrooms and chicken curry for dinner. The banks are hopefully cutting the interest rates today, but I don't remember our bank passing on the last one yet
Anyway, off to take Charlie out, catch you all later xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever 0 0

            Morning all
I had a phone call from DD yesterday asking if I wanted any of the pots from her garden, she's having lawn & a veg plot, I said yes & went round to collect them, there are hundreds, loads of little plastic ones but also a chimneypot & lots of decorative ones. I filled my car up & bought some home but will go back later & get some more. I can't see me needing any more for years. Very OS, reusing all of them.
Off to work in a sec, still have a filing cabinet in the way & still no trolley to move the paper, nearly 2 weeks now. Dr's appointment next Tuesday, to log my concerns.
Hope everyone has a good day.
 Hugs Hester

            Morning Everyone!
Hope all is well with everyone.
Made a Lasanga yesterday, as I wanted a Jacket Potato for supper, and didnt want the oven on just for that, and I never make lasanga, and had an old packet that had use by 2005! Well it doesnt go off does it (lasanga sheets)
I allways think its nicer reheated anyway. Do you think it would be best reheated in the oven or the microwave?
Still not sold the house, only one viewing this week and they are not on the market yet!
 Hugs to those that need them.Pawpurrs x 0 0

Good morning everyone  I'm planning having a big baking day today - apple braids, fairy cakes, bread rolls. It's a busy evening - DD's parents' evening, DS's football training, my choir. So no idea how to do tea - I may make some pizza and garlic dough balls, so that people can eat when they like
I need to tidy my dining room - lots of stuff over the table, that needs sorting out I also have a big stack of ironing, and need to do some more washing. I also have a big stack of ironing, and need to do some more washing.
I've started my pantry inventory. I need to do the freezer, too
Have a great day, everyone, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

            Morning peeps
yet another dull and drizzly morning the fog is back too, i wish that i could wave a magic wand and make it a bit more cheerful. It was so dark yesterday that i had to use the override switch on the outside dusk til dawn lights as it was so dark all day they wouldn`t switch themselves off.
I`ve just had a quick peek at the marmalade that i made yesterday and it`s still a bit runny - hope that it sets soon and i don`t have to reboil it like i did with the last batch, oh the bonfire toffee hasn`t set either so it looks like that will have to be redone, i`ve put it in the fridge to see if that helps.
We did see the nice old gentleman out walking his dog in the park last night so i gave him the piece of parkin, he`s such a lovely old guy with a lovely old doggie. We see him most nights and have a chat.
Today i need to clean the bathroom and the bedroom and do lots of cooking, i shall make leek and potato soup so i need to find a good recipe, can anyone point me in the direction of a tried and tested one please?
I also have beef that needs cooking - it`s the stewing variety so i shall make beef hash and leave it to settle until tomorrow for tea -tonights tea will be the half price sirloin and jacket potatoes with sprouts and carrots and cauli.
EEK, just remembered it`s Mr Sunnys late night at w*rk tonight so the sirloin may not be the best option for tonight after all, i shall have a good nosy around in the fridge and see what my options are, we sometimes eat late but 10pm would be pushing it a bit too far methinks  this weeks meal planner went out of the window early on, i always find it easier to stick to my plan if i`m at w*rk.
Vicky A - Huge ((((hugs)))) for your mum, i`ve just caught up with the last bit of yesterdays thread and have read JackieO`s lovely message to you - hope it helps.
Taplady - Sorry to hear the news about your sons job, hope that he finds something else soon.
Charliesmum - I envy you, i just lurve mushrooms on toast mmmmmmmm!
I`m off to make another cuppa and empty the dw now so have a good day and i shall see you all later.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon 0 0

            Morning all
Well, made my first loaf of bread in my new breadmaker last night and it came out perfect :j Was doing a taste test at 9pm but no indigestion when I went to bed thank goodness. Will now have to get a slicer as I end up with doorstops at one end and fag paper thin at the other end when I slice bread. I will slice it and freeze and delve into it when I need it. Does anyone recommend the one in the Argos catalogue??? Am going to try the french stick and fruit bread in the next few days, and looking forward to the results.
DGD was christened on Sunday so that was a nice day, work today, still freezing as boiler still being installed for the heating Apart from the small wall boiler that we make our tea and coffee from, there is no hot water in the building either  Dread going to the loo and washing my hands as it takes forever to warm up afterwards Spag bol and garlic bread for dinner.
Hugs everyone, and have a good day0

            :hello: Good Morning!
After a rather disturbed night I am off to have this contraption taken away, thank goodness:j. At least it only went off every hour during the night. I do know I am very lucky to have access to it though and hope to be reassured that nothing too significant is found, anyway high bp can be treated as my sis is doing well on her bp meds.
Sending more (((hugs)))) your way VickyA and also to PP, Smoky, Pink and all who could use one.
The 2 loaves of banana bread and the 12 banana and choc chip muffins turned out well (that's 6 of the massive supply of frozen bananas gone:rolleyes:) and dh thinks that the ones baked in the remoska were by far the best. I might get that bigger grand size one yet!;)
Pen pen - I get worn out just reading your must do list! :D :D
 Have a lovely day

            Morning all,
Thank you for the Birthday wishes y/day. When I was a child I thought everyone was celebrating my birthday with fireworks.
I didn't get on here y/day even though I was up at 4.20am. DH got up to go to the bathroom, realised he had forgotten to write out my card so came downstairs to do it, once he had woken me I couldn't get back to sleep, just worrying about next week.
I was wall papering at 5.30 out at lidle at 8 and cooked DD2 and SiL 2b their dinner dropped off when I took their 2 Labs for a walk across the moors.
Cleaned in the afternoon, had a long soak and was taken out for an Indian meal, lurv Indian food.
Today I'm going to empty and clean all kitchen cupboards, Stardrops here I come. Hopefully finish papering, then clean windows.
BM and WM on. YS Cod for dinner.
REDRUBY, It does seem to be getting bigger, especially when I have to clean it. You would be made very welcome, yes your right, it is very big and old, built in 1540 from Abbey stone. The second sitting room is 28ft x 34ft. I have to vacume the stone walls as well as the carpets so it's never ending.
I do feel lucky to have such a beautiful building to care for though.
PINK, JACKI O, MRS. MIX, LWOLF, VICKY, MRS MW, DIVA, Special hugs for you all, and an extra one for SMOKY, (how are you?)0
