Its dull drizzly and miserable here again today, O and we have fog.
Have lots going on today, washing, ironing, vacuuming, and stripping bathroom walls so we can get it done before christmas. Now isnt that an exciting day ???;)
Got most of my jobs done yesterday, did all the shopping, visited a couple of elderly neighbours, sent 2 parcels of knitting off to the charities, got a will form from the post office at the same time, didnt get round to shortening mums skirt though so will try and do that today, also promised to make a plastic bag tube for a friend so will do that at the same time.

Doing a SC beef stew for dinner and will put some in containers for the 2 Mums and we will take them over tomorrow.

We are off to see our DGD'S this weekend, going Saturday back Sunday. O I cant wait to see them, :j :j we miss them so much.

Hi all. Hope everyone who has colds and coughs is feeling better today.

Taplady - (((hugs))) to your DS - I hope everything works out.

Dinner today is chicken curry and rice - all done in the Remoska but cheating and using one of Sainsbury's 9p jars of curry sauce. Pudding is the rest of the lemon dumplings from the Be-Ro site but DH thought they were too filling!

Have office work to do today.

The weather is dismal; cool and cloudy and no point hanging the washing out because it won't dry.

    Have a good day.

  • I have not managed to do anything yet :o

Little bear grumbled in his sleep most of last night. Of course, he slept through his grumbles, but I didn't. Feeling low.

But, when I finally gear up into movement...

I am going to put a nice chicken casserole in the slow cooker, and peel sweet potato and parsnip for wedges to go with it. Then I am going to sort out my cupboards and make lists. I have almost managed to nearly persuade dear heart that it is a reasonable idea to consider the possibility of moving, so I need to get all the food run down just in case I manage it. Fourteen years ago when we found here, I actually announced in exasperation that I was finding somewhere else to live and he could stay on his own if he liked. In our last home my mother in law used to come in when I was at work and go through my private papers and I used to have asthma - but I didn't have asthma before I moved in there and I have not had it since.

So, unlike every other OS regular, I am aiming for empty cupboards. As my instinct is to hoard it will be an interesting time!

Hugs to all - there are so many on here who need a hug. So please accept a big, enthusiastic virtual one from me.

    Good morning!

Well I got the kids off to school with packed lunches - jam sarnies as mysteriously we have no ham or cheese in the house, and nobody wanted anything else! Wonder where it all went, sure there was loads!

Have loaded dw and wm, hung out washing that was already in there, doubt it'll dry though, it's so cold and damp out, but at least it'll get a bit of an airing! Swished and swiped the kitchen, hoovered and chucked out more bits of paper from the sitting room, where does it all come from?

Walked the dog and lost all feeling in my nose, blue is not a good look at all! Now need to put on the bm and yoghurt and make a meal plan.

Dinner tonight will be sausage casserole, cos I've got some cooked sausages in the fridge leftover from the other day and they need using, and as I have no meal plan for the first time in weeks I'm feeling a bit lost! Amazing how quickly you get used to them, personally I like the fact that I think hard once a week about dinners and then that's it, no wondering each day what to cook!

Not much planned for today, need to sort out the utility and downstairs loo, both have a lot of evidence of a muddy dog!

Time for a cuppa and a catch up now I think, I've missed everyone on here for a while, so it'll be good to see what you've all been up to! xx

  • Good Morning

Betheebee - Belated Happy Birthday for yesterday

Chrisca - I have the kenwood slicer - only use it for slicing bread but it is a godsend.

Thank you for all your kind thoughts, I am glad today has arrived at last - it seems to have been ages. Not looking forward to it, I know DS will be very emotional. Need to go to Nans flat tomorrow to sort some stuff out and I know that will be very hard.

Having a quick surf on here then having an early lunch then will be off.

  • Morning Chums ,what a damp wet grey looking day it is here in North Kent .
had to take one of my grandsons to the dentist as he had a tiny hole in his tooth that was hurting him.
Now Henry (7) is a very smart little boy, and takes everything literally.

Arrives at the dentists and he gets called in. Off he goes very bravely as he's a 'big boy' now and doesn't want anyone with him. 5 minutes later out he comes with a big smile .
Granny; "That was quick, are you finished ?"
Henry ; "Yes, we can go now"
Granny ;" Are you sure ,that filling didn't take long "
Henry;Errrrm filling Granny" looking a bit flushed as he said it.
Up steps Granny to the receptionist
"Did he do a filling in his tooth?"
    Receptionist " I'm not sure, I'll ask"
two minutes later back she comes, with the dentist in tow .
Apparently when he sat in the chair the dentist asked him how he was, and Henry, always a polite little boy said
    "Fine thank you Mr West"
Mr West duly had a look at Henry's choppers and said "O.K. Henry see you in a year".Henry promptly hopped down from the chair, highly delighted that he had escaped the filling and came out to Grandma in the waiting room.
Because it was a very tiny hole it had been missed, and it wasn't actually hurting him at the time ,only if he drank or ate on that side.
Moral of this tale allways check whats been done before you leave the surgery. Henry will go far in life I think:rotfl: :rotfl: he is a real scallywag that boy,he has the face of an angel though ,very blonde hair and big blue eyes
Had a lovely firework night at DDs and lots of fireworky food ,bangers, jacket spuds, hot chilli and a lovely bowl of curry and dips .Just the thing to keep you warm.
Tonight I 'shopped 'from the freezer and have some chicken pieces that I am going to cook for dinner with some salad. I know summer is really for salads ,but I do enjoy them and I bought some really nice Heinz Morrocan deli mayonaisse. So it spices it up a bit .DGD coming after swimming this afternoon so I had better get some HM Twinks Hob-nobs on the go by lunchtime.
I think I'll get the SC ontoday as well and do some curried parsnip soup as someone posted a recipe on here that I want to try. I had a big bag of about 12 parsnips given to me by a neighbour from their allotment .So waste not want not . I have got a feeling that somewhere I actually had 'parsnip chips' once at a restaraunt. I wonder if they were done in the oven like wedges.
<<Hugs to those in need >> and to all of you who are feeling a bit down and sad.
Have a good day if you can
Cheers JackieO, up to my knees in parsnips:D

Morning everyone, hope you enjoyed bonfire night those with kiddies.Fortunately our dog is fairly unfazed by loud noises, but I did hear a lot of barking hereabouts-I know my brothers dog has to have tranquilisers, she just trembles from the first one going off.Although I think someone else mentioned that there didnt seem to have been as many this year, certainly true round here.
Hugs to the many people who need them, sorry for not mentioning you all by name but I forget the names as soon as I've read the posts and then start typing-I'd need a list, although I do remember Vicky & Mum,Mrs Mix,Pink & son,PP,Essex,Candy
Sybil, sorry youre a bit down today.Chin up and go and hug little bear, that'll make you feel better.
After taking the dog out ,AND standing in something undesirable( to owners who don't pick up)I decided to fill the log baskets up from outside before it rains, though its been fairly pleasant here so far.Did some log splitting with the axe for starting the fire and moved loads- the trouble was most of it was wet through when it was delivered, and it is just starting to dry out.I quite enjoyed myself-felt like some hardy woodswoman
I have to walk up to the chemist later DS2 has used up all his Diprobase this month,as his eczema has been very bad on his neck and back, and 1 tub doesn't go too far when your 6ft 4 and 44 chest! I don't know if you can buy it without a prescription,or shall see what they recommend.Prob call and see my neighbour who had the hip replaced recently.
The BM should have finished in time for lunch,so I'll have a sandwich, and tea is beef in gravy for DS2,and chicken breasts for us.
Chrisca-I have the bread slicer from Argos and find it great.I've got the cheaper one,(£30 ish from memory)the only thing is the diameter isn't quite as big as the dearer,so you struggle to get a v large loaf to fit- I tend to make the medium loaf now(Panny) but you get loads more slices.
    Bye for now xx

  • Jackie O - your little Henry made me smile. I can see what is coming.

Not doing very well at all. Nothing has been done because I have been hanging around for this dratted delivery, which is going to be late which is fine because I'll get a voucher off but it does mean I have been sitting around doing nothing.

And, because the wires on my front upholder have gone I went on to ebay to purchase some more. JJ cup is awful. And while I was there, the comfort spending took over, and I bought a toy for little bear, and I bid on another - and I feel better for shopping which is a really worrying sign. Now the front upholders and the toy that I have already won are very inexpensive, and the unnecessary panties (in that I do wear them , but I do have some already! :o) were also inexpensive and the chair shaped like a panda, which is little bear's favourite toy, his pandy from IKEA, will be incredibly inexpensive if I win it, but it all mounts up - it comes to what I hope to spend on groceries in a week, which I am hopelessly over anyway!

Trying to find reasons to be upbeat and not quite managing. However, I am going to be stern with myself now, and not come back until at least some housewifery has happened.

And hugs to all those who actually have troubles rather than my acute attack of dippy!

Hester, I do hope you get things sorted out. It makes all the difference if you have things set out as they should!
