Pooky thanks for the clinton tip, Ill pop in there and ask. Im doing my nan a food basket so think that'd look better cellophaned.
Did i read on here someone used clingfilm then a hairdryer to keep the stuff in place?A lot of the baskets have toiletries in that will just rattle around if i just use wrapping paper.
I will type up the contents/themes of my baskets if anyones interested (no pics yet as havent quite finished assembling yet) Always feel like im intruding in your happy little hampering/craft community.:o
MSMOO you should be part of the hampering/craft group - it was you that gave me the idea of doing baskets this time last year:rotfl:saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

Popkins - we have some of those jute bags with all different sayings on for our shopping bags. We got them from a show but they do have a website:
www.thegoodbagco.co.uk
They are £3.50 each plus 40p P&P.0 -
Ooooh - very excited - my cellophane and ribbons have arrived!! Mmmm think I might have over ordered somewhat!! LOL!!! Don't think I'll have to buy any ever again!!! Have got 6 different colours of the curling ribbon (it was a special offer!!) and each one has got 500m!!!! At this rate it might have to become my business not just a hobby!!! Also ordered some cellophane bags which look so sweet - I've just tried a couple - in one I've put strawberry & lemon bon bons with pink curling ribbon - look really pretty and I can make loads of bags up cos I bought a 1.2kg tub from Wilkos for about a £5!!! It'll prob make about 20 bags!!!0

Can anyone give me some advice on what to use to fill the bottom of hampers that are too deep, to bring the gifts up to the right level for wrapping?? I know some people include a towel in the gifts etc, and use that, but I'm not doing that and I'm stuuuuck!! I did wrap three for my little cousins last night using shredded cardboard at the bottom, but they leaked cardboard dust underneath through the wicker, so I won't be using that again! And shredded tissue is great for decoration, but hasn't got enough bulk! Rant over lol:rotfl:
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I've got about 5 pages to catch up on, how about some scrunched up parcel wrapping paper (the brown stuff on a roll)? I've used this in the bottom of a couple of my baskets that were quite deep and it's worked a treat as it's quite substantial. You could always cover the top with a layer of co-ordinated coloured tissue if you wanted. HTH and sorry if it's already been mentioned:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Since discovering this site and hampers I am making them for one friend for Christmas and my mum has asked me to sort out my two cousins Christmas presents so they will be getting one each too.
My friends one is practically finished:
Shower sponge-29p
Shower gel - 75p
Shopping list - 35p
Mug - 59p
Hot choc - 66p
M&S Dessert book - £2.50
Candle - 30p
Chocolate orange - £1
We have set a budget of £7.50 so i have £1 more to spend which I can't find anything that i like for £1. Any ideas?
My cousins are not as organised. So far I have:
Cousin 1
Basket - £1.99
Shower sponge - 29p
Mug - 31p
Hot choc - 33p
Shower gel - 75p
Candle - 30p
Cousin 2
Basket - £1.99
Shower sponge - 29p
Sundae glass - free-spare unused gift
Spinkles - 80p
Candle - 30p
I am now totally stuck for cousin 1. I don't want to get her anymore shower/bath stuff and i'm going to get her some chocolate.I was thinking a reusable bag-does anyone know where i can get one for no more than £3?
I am looking for a make up bag for cousin 2 but they all seem really expensive for what they are:tried Superdrug, B&M Bargins, Boots, Bodycare
Any other ideas of what i can put in their hampers would be much appeciated, but no toiltetries or chocolate. Have about £5 to spend on each cousin.
Thank You0 -

I am also going to make one for a Christmas Eve movie night for my kids.
Can I just ask, some of the hampers are in baskets with a kind of chalkboard on them, where do you get them from please? I am sure it must say somewhere in this thread but it is too long to go right through
Sorry if this has already been answered but the chalkboard boxes are from Matalan - £3 and come in about 4 colours. HTH:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
