IMDB is great if you use it to search on keywords, you can find pretty much anything :)

  • thank you lilian1977 for your penguin-tastic ideas:j . I have found a large cookie/biscuit for 3.75 and the copy of happy feet should do it. Also a penguin rubber ducky on ebay.

We all spend so much time on making these hampers I hope everyone gets something lovely in return.

Ive come to a bit of a halt with my baskets as I cant afford the cellophane! Will have to wrap them in wrapping paper grrr! A few will look silly wrapped in wrapping paper but cant help it. Does anyone know any shops that sell cellophane as i may be able to get some when oh gets paid on 23rd? I know florists usually do but theres only one near here i can think of and i wont be able to get to it. (as oh working and only he drives and the florists not in town where ill be going shopping) :)
What about using that foil type wrapping paper? You know the stuff that's silver on one side and coloured holographic on the other? I've often seen this in the £1/99p shops, but you can find it in most card shops cheaply and probably supermarkets too. It'll also work well as padding, as it scrunches quite well.

As a fellow cross stitcher, I would say I love to receive anything stitch related. As the kits can be a little expensive, how about a storage box (either a sewing basket or just lidded box depending on what she already has) gold needles, embroidery scissors, fabric, check out charity shops and ebay for cross stitch books and how about a years subscription to a cross stitch magazine.

I cross stitch too and have given mum some pretty scissors before. She never blooming uses them though! I can highly recommend Gingher scissors, btw. They're gorgeous and cut so well. I adore mine-which were a pressie from DH 5 years ago. Never sharpened them & they're still as good as when I first had them. They aren't cheap, though. Put them on your wish list!

Anyway, I might suggest to my Dad to make up a hamper for her with some gold needles, fabric and a needle threader-and maybe some charms or buttons. Mum went to America a couple of years ago and bought LOADS of stitching bits out there, so I know she has quite a stash already. Plus she's lucky enough to live by Sew N So in Stroud. She works in a charity shop & is always on the hunt for magazines or kits in the charity shops she goes in. It's suprising what people give away! Don't think Dad's finances would stretch to a mag subscription for his ex-wife! Wish he'd get me one, though..:D Hint hint Dad!

Keep the ideas coming-her birthday is New Years day, so need more suggestions.

    Thanks everyone!

    Morning all,

I did a coffee hamper for Oh its a male one added demera sugar cubes as he likes to dunk and accompany the coffee with a cognac. O whittard cigar aswell. I`m making some shortbread not not sure how long this keeps (??). A box of bendicks after dinner mints yummy !

You can get some nice coffee or expresso fudge too. A couple of coasters too. The list is endless also i think there is a little coffee book of tips aswell i`ll try and find a link.

Help needed I bought a penguin for Brother well i`ve adopted him for 12months what else can i put in the hamper. I`m going shopping Friday and this will be last day as i`m off to london to look after mother again !

thnak you so much keep up the good work.

Love the penguin idea! I adopted DH a bat one year. It came with tickets to London Zoo. Does your come with anything like that? If not, maybe tickets to a wildlife park/zoo? Happy Feet DVD is a great suggestion. March of the penguins was good also. Oh! Surfs Up DVD(in the Nestle/Play £1 promo too). Hand warmer, gloves or scarf...going with a 'cold' theme. A print of a penguin framed up? I might even have some decent pics of penguins from London Zoo if you wanted. PM me if you do.

I'm doing a chocolate hamper for the chocoholic I got for secret santa, put my Avon order in yesterday and ordered some White Chocolate Latte bubble bath to go in it. Have just checked online and its out of stock - do not reorder! Will have to try and find something similar elsewhere. Anybody seen anything on their travels?

I'm in the South, so don't have an HB. Would really have to be from Boots, Poundland, 99p shop (new in town - hurray!) or Wilkos

    Thanks girls x
I got Chocolate incense sticks from a site on ebay called blossoms baskets, ( I got my baskets there too) It was a really good, quick site. The incense sticks come in packs of six, and Ive got some left over, so if its just one or two packs you want, PM me and I'll happily pop them in the post. Dont go buying a whole pack if you dont need them.

Boots did a chocolate body wash-in the fresh! range a while ago.
Play do a choculator http://www.play.com/Gadgets/Gadgets/4-/5746395/-/Product.html?searchstring=choculator&searchsource=0 which is quite good. And superdrug & savers do a chocolate face mask.....mmmmm....

Sorry to quote myself, but just thought of something else. Morrisons had some fab mug sets for £2.99. One was red and said chocolate heaven and had a pic of some yummy looking chocs. In the set is a mug, scatter tray (for biscuits/chocs, if you ask me!) and a coaster. Really nice for the price. They did a 'dip it, dunk it' biscuit one, a shoe one and a blokie one too I believe.

    I would have suggested
    http://www.jgoodepenguins.com/
    or
    https://www.JGoode.etsy.com

but it may be too late now for postage to England before Christmas.
I would still urge people to have a look though :)

Thanks, I have some of this. It is silver on one side and silvery grey with xmas trees on the other side. i actually wrapped car buckets up in it last year, dont know why i didnt think of it. Thankyou. :)
Pooky thanks for the clinton tip, Ill pop in there and ask. Im doing my nan a food basket so think that'd look better cellophaned.
Did i read on here someone used clingfilm then a hairdryer to keep the stuff in place? A lot of the baskets have toiletries in that will just rattle around if i just use wrapping paper.
I will type up the contents/themes of my baskets if anyones interested (no pics yet as havent quite finished assembling yet) Always feel like im intruding in your happy little hampering/craft community.:o
