Oh dear what absolute rubbish I was merely reading that very long thread and came across a poster who had a similar experience to me and who also switched to Southern Electric so I replied to it, that's what the reply button is for.
That's all I did.
There are some other things I would like to say about the thread and points I would
like to raise and I will do or not do so as I so wish.
Nothing wrong with that its a free country and all that.
But anyhow I am not to bothered with your distractions, my gripe is with Npower not you.
I won't really be happy untill justice has been done for everyone, however I do congratulate the OP of that thread on getting a result, I know it can be tough taking
on a big organisation and he has scored a major result.
There has been such an obvious injusice done to so many people that Npower must not be allowed to get away with it, several people in the thread expressed such an opinion, it's not an unique opinion help my me, someone who you seem to be trying to discredit, which I find rather perculiar.
Yes you may disagree with me in that I think what they have done is criminal but I believe there is no other way to describe it.
So I am not sure what you mean, I did not 'hijack it' unless you are suggesting I hijacked this thread, which I started!!
Anyway you are just distracting me so I may just have to ignore your posts in future if that is all you seem to want to do.0 -
Sorry but |I can't resist replying to reactor/iamesbo even though I know I am going to get a stream of drivel in reply.
This thread was started by you at 6.55pm on 5.11.08 complaining about gas prices being more expensive in the UK than in Europe (even when the source you were quoting said exactly the opposite). Your first mention of npower was at 5.50pm on 6.11.08 (post 31) regarding them overcharging you on the higher rate (nothing whatsoever to do with the previous 30 posts) and it included the now standard 'suppliers are criminals' rant.
The thing that bugs me about people like you is that you don't have the balls or the intelligence to follow up on any of the accusations you make. Here is a public bet - you provide proof that you have reported any suppliers allegedly criminal activity to the police and they have agreed to take this up (rather than throw you out of the police station) and I will donate £100 to any charity of your choice. There is an old phrase 'put up or shut up' Why is it I have the feeling you will do neither??0 -
I think you're getting needlessly wound up, ex-energywatchadviser, but as I'm not your GP feel free to ignore me.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I'm not getting wound up - just frustrated with trying to put foward a logical argument with a one trick pony.
If you want to see wound up why don't you review some of the heated exchanges you have had with Cardew!!! LOL.0 -
Well £100 is not a lot realy but I will try and think of an appropiate charity.
Preferably one which does not spend 99% of it's money sending junk mail to
me rather than spending it on the intended cause.
Anyone want a few Oxfam pens of crappy Xmax cards by the way?
The pens write pretty well though, must be better quality than the stacks of pens I
already have from bookmakers.
So I will let you know of my progress in due course, but in the mean time I will not be shutting up because there is no logical reason why I should, unless you feel the
fact that the expression rhymes give it some kind of extra validity.
It's just like some advertisers slogan to encourage people to buy what usually tends to be overpriced rubbish. It may fool a few 'mugs' but I can assure I ain't one of them.
For example let's take Beanz Meanz Heinz
A very succesful slogan but essentailly meaningless (beaningless?) it just means
an expensively priced tin of beans backed full of sugar salt colouring and preservatives and God knows what else, which essentially taste nothing like beans.
So....I will let you know how I get on, I imagine the police will be delighted to improve their crime figures, I mean basically it would be millons of crimes solved
and no doubt a Knighthood for the Chief Constable. Obviously the recorded crimes would not look too good but having 95% of them solved would be excellent!!
It's a deal!!0 -

The last figures for gas prices I have seen are in this document which is for June 2008.
http://www.energy.eu/#domestic
In June 2008 for a consumption of 2000 cubic metres(at 22,000kWh is approx UK average) the price of a kWh in Euros was:
Figures in brackets are pence at today’s exchange rate of £1= 1.24 Euro.
France = 0.063 (5.1p)
Spain = 0.065 (5.2p)
Ireland = 0.070 (5.6p)
Germany = 0.082 (6.6p)
Italy = 0.086 (6.9p)
Netherlands = 0.124 (10.0p)
Sweden = 0.152 = (12.3p)
Denmark = 0.152 = (12.3p)
UK = 0.048 (3.9p)
There has been large gas price increase in UK since June; in the order of 30% to 35% for some companies.
There have also been increases in Europe, although I can’t find figures – not that I have looked hard!
Given that a 30% increase on the average UK price(3.9p) brings us up to the pre-increase price for France(5.1p) I am reasonably confident that UK prices are still lower than European prices – but that is conjecture on my part.
However the OP still maintains the he knows European prices are lower, and his proof is to quote a number of articles that actually say UK prices are lower.
Getting back to the main purpose of this thread, thank you Cardew for posting these figures. I must admit I am really surprised as I always thought UK costs were far higher than the continent. I suppose with our latest increases, this puts us on a par with Europe. I find it difficult to understand how the French accept their energy costs without taking to the streets. Over here, we just seem to lie down and take all the ripping off from governemnt, councils etc etc. Interesting reading though0 -
Note those figure are doctored in that they exclude all the countries paying less than us and also include energy taxes, our energy tax is only 5% and also exclude the most recent big hike. Plus we have our own gas where as France Germany etc have little or none of their own.0
