Suggest you should have read the compensation scheme that was in force when you opened your account if you think the above is correct. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
yes and that why I said i woudl go to Newcastle for it as that is where Icesave is, and Newcastle BS operate the online system for icesave.!! p.s I am sure that NGM and Stormy would come with me!!
Good luck in your quest! I'm sure you'll feel better when the email arrives, meantime you can read the full text on FSCS website (and many other places) I appreciate that you are worried that you address may not be on the list, but I'm sure you'll get it eventually. For the moment nobody has got their money anyway so we're all in the same boat. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

Suesie,
I will certainly come to Newcastle with you if I don't get the money and interest I was due from Icesave up to Oct 7th back, although I wonder if we might not have to make a trip to Iceland and the home of the Iceland prime minister to get anywhere.
However assuming we get back what we are owed up to Oct 7th the next trip is then a shorter one to camp out on the door of the FSCS until they agree to pay us the interest we are due after Oct 7th until whatever date on which we get our savings back. I haven't ever picketed anything else in my life but in the case of the FSCS I'm prepared to make an exception in view of their lofty indifference to complaints from investors about their methods of operation.
Does anyone know where David Hall (FSCS Chairman) or Loretta Minghell (FSCS Chief Executive) actually live? Unfortunately Mr Hall's CV does not read like someone able to appreciate the situation of someone denied access to all their cash savings. Instead it reads more like somebody who is totally in bed with the rest of the banking community.:mad:
See https://www.fscs.org.uk/press_office/Online_Resources/FSCS_people/ (you need to register to access the Press Office part of their site - I just gave my name, email address and "Icesave Investor" for the job description and they accepted it.)0 -

you can search peoples address and contact details on 192.com but you have to buy credits to see full address. The other way is to go on to companies house web site and so a webcheck for FSCS , they are company number 03943048, and for £1 you can order info on company inc names and addressesof directors

The truth is that I did read up on Landesbankii as the oldest bank in Iceland also owning a distinguished old UK merchant bank and that they indicated they were UK domiciled for their UK subsidiary and fully covered by the FSCS. I only opened my account in January 2007 on that basis. I actively ignored the recommendations of the owner of this website to invest in an Indian bank paying 0.1% more and not fully regulated by the FSA for its activities.
If you read up on any profile of Icesave investors you will find they were all rational middle class people not prone to taking absurd risks. And numerous UK financial journalists recommended them and their newspapers carried Icesave's advertising. If that was not the case how come so many crusty old local authorities also invested their cash deposits with this bank, even though they were not covered by an FSCS guarantee.
The only point of your post is to try to be a smug little Jeremiah by implying it was possible to know of the problems with Icesave in advance. If the government had felt that investors in Icesave deserved what was coming to them then they clearly wouldn't have agreed to cover all private investor deposits regardless of the failings of the Icelandic government compensation scheme.
The only point of your post was clearly to be smug. There was no other point.0 -

Cheers to NGM! oh yes and my mate Stormy !"Serious money saving Diva"........................................:p

This is all getting a bit silly. The fact is icesave went bust and I for one think that I am extremely fortunate to get my money back. And whats more we are getting it back without having to fill in forms, and without having to deal with Iceland. We made a mistake and luckily we have been baled out when I guess most of the UK population have no sympathy whatever with us, just thinking that we must be rich b.....s to have savings. To go on about missing interest from the 7 October in my eyes is just plain greedy. I think the FSCS are doing a great job in the circumstances.0
