I don't know what to do. I don't know if to be sick or if to cry._pale_
Last night when I went to do my 15 minute floordrobe I found one of my DD's baby teeth on my bedside table. I have kept all my childrens baby teeth in my jewellery box (I hope you don't think this is too odd). So I went to put this one in the box and discovered that 2 of my rings were missing. A nice big diamond cluster that DH gave me and my grandma's eternity ring.
I couldn't remember the last time I saw them. So, after 4 hours of searching high and low I found the cluster in a ring box with another ring and a bracelet that I had forgotten all about. But I can't find granny's ring anywhere.
I have spoken to Mr CS on the phone and he said if necessary he will lift all the furniture out of the bedroom tomorrow so that I can look under and behind everything.
I am filled with dread. I fear I may have hoovered it up or put it in the washing machine with the bedding by mistake.
It won't help to panic. Sit down and have a cup of tea and think logically about it. I assume that these are both rings that you don't wear very often, so it's not surprising that you can't remember when and where you last saw them... it's happened to all of us.
It sounds like you need to go through each room methodically, starting with the bedroom. So clear out, clean and then put away the contents of every drawer/cupboard. Sort through any boxes/suitcases and get everything tidy ready to move the furniture with OH tonight (and even if you don't find it, at least you'll have a good clean behind everything. Then do the same with other rooms, starting with places you may have taken rings off - bathroom, kitchen (starting from by the sink and working outwards).
Also check the hoover bag just in case - do it outside and be prepared to get dusty.
I've now had a small safe installed, so that when I'm away, I lock up anything I really care about. Maybe that's something to put on the Christmas list, so that you know that all your jewellery is in there.
Hope you find it soon.0 -
Thank you Greenbee. I know I need to calm down. I just can't manage it just yet. If I have hoovered it or washed, it is long gone because I checked the washing machine filter and the hoover container.
I only wear it on special occassions and we don't have many of those so it could have been missing since New Years Eve.
Mr CS is going to move the bed out tomorrow so I hope it's under there. I've unravelled a wire coathanger and swept it under the bed without any success. So I'm not too optimistic.
5 years ago we were burgled and Mr CS's gran's ring was stolen. I'm thinking I'm not fit to inherit nice things.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -

Definitely get a safe for Christmas... its the sentimental value that has the most impact, so I keep some stuff in mine that has NO financial value, but I'd be devastated to lose! You never know, it may well turn up, and it sounds like if it does, you should wear it more. Don't save nice things for special occasions as that's how they get lost. Jewellery is there to be worn, so wear it.0 -

Applies to other stuff too...I had a lovely canteen of cutlery I used to use about once a year and one day I decided not to keep anything for 'best' I whizzed my old tatty cutlery (I took it into work where it's used in the staffroom but I kept the teaspoons because they're the ones that get lost first) and now use this set, which was a wedding gift (1st time around...) everyday and remember the givers, my Aunt who is no longer with us and her family.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hello everyone...how are you all??
I'm being very cheeky...looking for some vacuum cleaner advice/ recommendations.
I know you guys actually use yours, so I was wondering what are good ones that are not too expensive that'll clean up after 4 kinders, a flatcoat retriever and husband...laminate floors downstairs, carpet upstairs and on the stairs...?
Hi I bought the Miele cat and dog, expensive but best hoover I've ever had, consistent in getting every thing up from floor and stairs and a trillion times better than the dyson I had.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Back again with a full belly, had to take the car for bit of a run cause it wouldn't start  battery needed oomphing up a bit, it's not used to not being used.
Frankie I'd recommend a Henry cuse they're just fab, I have no probs using it on my laminate floorsdon't have pets though so don't know about that.
summermoon hope you find the ring it's awful when you lose something that means so much to you.
I'm in the 'single living camp' it rocks - I do cheat and have OH just round the corner, but I get the best of both worlds, everything Valli listed and a man that adores me who comes round as and when I wantWe talked about living together again and I wouldn't even entertain the idea, men and women just aren't meant to live under the same roof as far as I'm concerned..plus I like doing what I want - ..johanne once your emotions start settling down you will LOVE living alone....I guarantee it.
Teenies gutted cause his EMA hasn't gone in to the bank today, it was only a maybe anyway but y'know he's not had one payment yet  I'm going to take it easy but am itching to do a bit in the house - it's filthy! I've got snotrags all over the bedroom so I'm gonna go up there and gather them all and chuck in the bin, take my manky sheets off and fling open the window.....that'll make me feel better..0 -
Afternoon all,
So far i have taken kids to school, walked the dog, finally wiped out the freezer and switched it back on, gone to Mr T's for a hugh shop to restock the freezer (guess what I will be doing this afternoon), emptied the DW and emptied and reloaded the WM.
Still have a few bits on my list from earlier in the week but may keep them for the weekend.
CS - hope you find your missing ring with luck it will be under the furniture
flower - hope you are feeling upbeat today, can sympathise with you I am definetly struggling with the change of clocks and greyer days
Valli - like the new signature.
Off to find a SC receipe for chilli and some curry mixes.0
