  • Hi everyone and Happy new Year.

    #169 reporting in...

I've made an on-line overpayment today of 301.97 which represents 7.95% of my 2009 target of 3,800.

Hope everyone hits their targets in 2009.

my first payment of 2009 is on its way - only £30 but better than nothing! As I am on maternity leave this year it is the best we are going to manage but we are determined to keep overpaying something each month. Good luck to everyone on the challenge this year.

Well, 2009 is here and the Challenge has started!! :j

Welcome to all the newbies and Good Luck to everyone who has joined the challenge so far - dont forget you can join at any time if you havent alredy and join our ever growing family of MFW's :A

If you can PM your OP figures plus your 'number' from the first post that would make life so much easier for me since there are now so many of us or put it on your signature (I just realised my numbers not on my sig - oops - will do that now :o )

Hope everyone has a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009 - lets OP as much as we can - dont forget every little bit helps so even if your target is not as much as some others - it will still make a huge difference to you and anything is better than nothing at all.

    Happy New Year everyone!

I think with it being a bank holiday my mortgage payment won't go out until tomorrow, but it includes an overpayment of £59.70 so I have put this in my signature. Couldn't wait to start updating my sig this year!!

Have also done a bit of money-shuffling between my online accounts this morning, and have made a good start to 2009 by transferring £400 into savings.

    Happy New Year.

Our first overpayment of 2009 paid. I've been given a few extra hours until July so upped the payment a bit. Overpayment this month £850.

    Good Luck Everyone.

I'm so glad you've all been keeping this thread popping up on my list and reminding me I have to think about this :)

I'm almost afraid to make a commitment here since I am worrying a little about money at the minute but I decided this was what I wanted to prioritise in the way of savings at the minute given the rubbish interest rates for savings.

Our mortgage is now almost £210,000, down from £232,600 this time last year. I'm pretty happy about this. The aim for next year is to bring it down under £200,000. It's all sort of guesswork at the minute since my fixed rate ends on 1 August but as things stand, if I overpay by £250 per month this should work okay. There's also the possibility of DH making some overpayments too but he's self employed and his income is not predictable (although we're fortunate that he always makes enough to live on) so I'll just have to take this as it comes. I make my payments at the end of the month so nothing to report for now :)

Good luck to everyone for their mortgage free journies...

Afternoon all and happy new year

New Year Resolution (hahahaha - like i keep those for more than 5 minutes!!) is to be more focussed on OP's again this year although it won't be easy until OH can work. However, I will try with small amounts each month to start with, and build up to bigger amounts when things get easier. This is working on the theory that something is better than nothing. The main thing initially will be to OP each month by something. Stayed in bed most of today and saved on heating bill:D

Good luck to everyone else in their quest too!

But now I'm not - (Joint) Mortgage £104704.
    New MFW target £5000 overpayments by 31/12/2105 £400/£5000 = 8%
    SAVINGS TARGET - £25000 by 31/12/2015 £13643/£25000 = 55%
