    Hi all,

ANother crazy month for Me, back at college so pressures on again!! so I'm sorry if I'm not getting the updates done quickly enough... :o:o:o

I'll give it a couple of days and add up the front posts with the OCTOBER TOTAL's....... looking good so far though!!
    MFW 2010 Challenge (No 68) - £133.29/ £5000

  • Not such a good month here, though i knew it wouldn't be as we were on holiday for a week and my first month with no wages.

Then the computer went caput, so my support mechanism isn't there as much as usual.

Anyway, achieved a grand total of 50p this month just so we had paid something. I hope to achieve better this month but we have to renew costco membership, pay my car insurance and pay off the holiday to centre parc this month. Oh, and probably try to do a bit more christmas shopping too.

I defrosted the freezer today and did an inventory, so i guess if i meal plan and try to have a cheap food month we might manage to pay something off.

    Michelle.

    October overpayment = 50p
    2009 overpayment = £18,927.11

Total overpayments for life of mortgage since 2004 = £28,491.14

    Hi Cake,

Its definately time to start making plans and I feel like Ive become a bit neglectful, but got loads on at the mo so I suppose somethings got to give .... right?

ANyhow if your up for it that would be great and I will be back to one of the gang reporting in to you (might remember to update my totals :rotfl:)

Let me know what you think
    Zav

Cool, didn't want to step on any toes but it looks like tons of work so I was pretty sure you wouldn't want to do it two years running :rotfl:

I'll hang fire for a few days in case someone else is (mad? ;)) keen, then once it's up and running I'll post a linky in here.

Should be three of us already (you, me and Hurdler), hope to see plenty more oldies and newbies :D
  • Well fellow MFW's, another month payment means my mortgage balance is now only £5,700. Only another month to achieve my 2009 target. It's been great to see the "mortgagebalanceometer" winding down another thousand, 13k at the start of the year to just 5.7k. I look forward to the December payment when it will be just 5k.

Now I need to decide whether to clear it off by June or continue with 5K I/O and fund my new kitchen.

Keep at it everyone, it can be done. I know when your mortgage is large the overpayments might not seem to make a dent in the mortgage balance, but over time you will enjoy the sight of your mortgage balance diminishing to the day it is zero.

:T Just wanted to say I have reached my target :j £600 overpaid for the year! MFW no 272

Things have changed slightly and while I do have some "savings" that were going to be used to make an overpayment we are currently looking at buying a bigger house. I discovered that I was pregnant in August and that was the BIG motivator we needed to make the push for a bigger house, unfortunately the 12 week scan showed that baby was no longer there. Still our house went on the market and had 1 viewing who offered us exactly what we wanted and we have found the house we want.

So "extra" overpayments are on hold until we are in our new home (with a bigger mortgage)!

    Well done everyone!

  • MFW #254 reporting in for November. Overpayment of £3,083 this month, £11,447 for the year with a target of £9,000 - so we just exceeded it finally. Feels good to actually hit a target and I am quite motivated to try to reach a total of £12,000 by the end of the year as I like the sound of having averaged £1,000 every month. But January is a dreadful month for outgoings with Christmas, tax bill, car and house insurance all up so once I review these bills I may not be hitting that new target at all!

Keep up the good work everyone, not long to go now before the challenge is over (and a new one is started!).
So far: Council Tax downgrade success and £1,000 refund | Mortgage redemption refund £25.00 | Lightspeed £65.00 | Pigsback £30.00 | Quidco £130.00 | Topcashback £405.00 all courtesy MSE
MFW #95 Mortgage at Jan 2010 £66,000 OP Target for 2010 £23,850 OP so far £23,200.00 Balance now £39,918
