Hi,
I have recently become mortgage free so now need to start on the mortgage. I suppose we have been overpaying for quite a while, as we reduced the term so that it would be paid off by the time OH retired. He has now been offered early retirement and plans to finish work in the Spring next year.
The mortage is in 4 sub accounts as follows -
sub acc 1 - £17,062. 17
sub acc 2 - £2,448.80
sub acc 3 - £9,754.18
sub acc 4 - £13.911.50
Total - £42.137.65
I have been told I can pay up to double payments on acc 1 , 2 and 3 without incuring a penalty and as much as I want off 4. However, 4 has the lowest interest rate at the minute so will prob leave that for now.
I think my first plan is to arrange to pay double payments on sub acc 2 as that is the smallest.

Well done everyone  and welcome to jess444 and Hurdler
I know there are a couple of months to go, but I've started thinking about next year already, partly because I'm itching to start the overpayments again (putting it away in an ISA or whatever doesn't work for me, I just get it out again and spend it :rotfl:) and partly because I need motivation to stop buying extra christmas presents
So...is there a MFW 2010 thread somewhere? Or is someone is keen to start one? And if not, shall I start one?? (wouldn't be nearly as good as Zavarony's great thread, but better than nothing hopefully)

NO 75 Checking in November overpayment went out today so the balance is now under £25000:j. Not made a start on Christmas shopping or DD 18th yet, this might limit our overpayments for the remainder of the year.

Financial Bliss.
I'm signed up for this, certainly won't be mortgage-free by the end of it but I'm aiming to be half-way there :j0 -
No. 169 reporting in for November.
Automated overpayment of £201.97 has been collected today. This means year to date, I’ve made £2,321.67 in overpayments. Not anticipating making any further overpayments this month.
Was aiming for a 2009 target of £3,800, but I’ll not achieve that now. Still, we’re making good progress into the mortgage despite only having one income in the household.
Keep up the good work everyone!
